Just a quick question. Are there any resorts in Europe that might still be open in early May? I'll be going to Southern Germany the first week of May and wouldn't mind escaping to a mountain for a couple of days, if possible. I could get a cheap plane ticket or take the train.

Check at bergfex.com. Places like Laax, Andermatt, Saas Fee, Zermatt, Schilthorn have long seasons. Some are only open on weekends, tho.

I didn't know that site, and it looks great! I'll keep an eye on the ones that are listed as having the longest seasons and see how they're doing in April. I'm actually landing in Zurich, so I could head straight to the mountain, before going to Germany.

I wouldn't go booking anything until last minute unless conditions change dramatically. Some lower resorts are already closing for the season, & Tignes for example closed its glacier early last summer due to the poor conditions. The webcam shows it's really bad even that high with rocks where there should be several feet of snow.

I've heard the season hasn't been so great in Europe so far. That sucks :(

Yeah, I wasn't planning on booking anything in advance. I know, even in a good season, spring boarding can be a bit of a coin toss. I'm gonna keep an eye on the resorts people recommended, accommodation and transportation options, and basically gonna decide the day before my trip, while packing, if I should bring my gear as well or not.
