Over the years we have added quite a few sub forums to the site. There is a lot now. The regional section and review sections are the obvious ones. Do we need to try to condense them? Are they just fine? What would you like to see? I have my feelings but it isn't always about me. :)

I think that they are relevant if stuff is posted in the right forums, like when going to another resort, if people post in the right place it is easy to find, but then at the same time, with search facilities, it is easy anyway...

Personally, i always search for relevant terms, rather than scrolling through endless rooms...

I've long since gotten away from trolling the tree. I just look at all New Posts to see what's up.

all i do is hit New Posts and reply to what's fresh - that said:

there needs to be a "last page" option on each thread when viewed from the New Posts page. fuck that stupid little arrow thing that isn;t there half the time or when it is there half the time redirects to some random spot in the thread.

I think it's good to have sub forums to make it easier for people to find what they're looking for. I think some of the sub forums could be combined, i.e. the "Boards" and "Snowboard Reviews" seem like they're similar enough to only need 1 forum.

A bit differant from sub forums, but I personally think a thanks button would be a nice addition. It would be good to show someone your appreciation for a good/helpful post.

Go to
User CP / Edit Options / Thread Display Optiond / Thread Display Mode >> and choose "Linear - newest first" and you won't use the "Last page button" anymore... the newest post will always be on page 1.

but then i have to rewire my entire brain to reading the posts backwards... every other forum im on has a "last page" button after "1 2 3 ...". it is the better solution.

Nobody reads or searches any way. Pretty much every 3rd new post is a request for "should I buy this board" or "tell me about this board", often on one that has been reviewed.
Me too. But not on "Active Topics"
That's weird too, I pretty much only use "active topics", and I have a "last post" arrow. Right to the right of the last posters name. And it seems to work perfectly.

I know but maybe there would be a ton more if there wasn't a review sub forum. You shouldn't cater to the lowest common denominator.

How about a Politics section?

Just kidding...

I'd love to have a "Last page" button on the recent posts list, that's all I ever use. I just use the search feature for everything else.
Maybe add a sticky that detracts people from starting new helmet safety circle-jerk threads to somewhere.

Hmmm.. I already wrote this when Snowolf asked a similar question but thes thread went to nirvana.. anyway.
My opinion: A main "problem" with threads is, that the are dynamic, while their titles and allocation to a sub forum is static. The main objective of a thread / question of OP can change a lot over several pages, thus the title of the thread might not fit the most recent content of the thread. To enable the OP to change the main title / move the tread to a sub that fits the most recent post better could reduce the amount of new threads. Or it could generate a complete mess :dunno:

Threads certainly become something different than what the op intended. I am not sure we want to reclassify them on the regular. I like your train of thought though.
