Been there 3 or 4 times, 2 -3 day trips each time. I'm no expert but here's what I've learned!

The outback and northwest chairs have awesome runs, I've only taken them in the pow, but can't imagine they aren't a blast in any decent conditions. There are nice trees to hit and the runs last forever! That's what I like.... the length of the runs. I had fresh tracks one morning and just surfed for days...... amazing!

Getting off the outback or northwest lift go skier right for some bowls. Never took them myself but have been told it's decent.

My buddy who I've gone with a couple times just lives for the moment the summit lift opens up. He swears by it.

The only day I was there when the chair was open it was day three and the beer was really tasting good. It was about 1 pm and I was simply done...... too bad because it was sunny and untouched freshies on the back side of that mountain.

Have a fun trip! I'm headed there end of March.

EDIT-- Here is a pic of a run down just to the skier right of NW express chair. I just looked at my ski track app I was using that day and the run is 2.14 miles long, 2326 vertical, and max slope of 45*. Took me 10 minutes to get to the bottom, but I stopped to take in the beauty. Max speed was 34.47 miles....... because it was nothing but knee deep pow.

Thanks man. Stormed all day Monday and we rode Outback. NW and the summit were closed. It was probably only 8" but it was the best and lightest snow I've ever been on. It felt great to be able to blast through anything. No lift lines. Awesome day.

The sun came out the next day and weighted the new snow on the summit and NW chair. Nice to ride there after they were closed on a storm day, but the snow was heavier and our legs were dead from going so hard Monday. Wednesday cooled down and got a little better. All in all it was a killer trip I would love to do again. Ripping through the trees off of Outback and NW was just unreal.

Incidentally I picked up a Burton Sherlock right before the trip for $199 and rode it Monday. That board just slays the pow. So fun. Better edge hold than purported.

I go twice a year, my buddy lives in bend so its a lot of fun. I agree with the assessment above but if summit is open and you have fresh snow, go hit it. Drop the backside if they get a good amount of snow. Just fantastic riding. You can't go wrong, I've been a lot of places and bachelor is still one of my favorite mountains! Stoked for you :yahoo:

Yeah the wind was blowing snow sideways and tossing that chair all around on Monday. Nice for us because we shared Outback with about 12 other riders due to high winds and poor vis. Snowboard hero snow even after it got a little tracked.

First time I ever went to bachelor was 2012,early, ..... Like January. It was the biggest blizzard/dump they'd had maybe of record. It was so deep I didn't know how to get up when I fell. It was my first year ever on a board ( never skied) and I pretty much panicked because I couldn't get up out of the snow. It was inches above my head and body the first time I fell off one of the two chairs that were open, think it was the sunrise chair.

DUMP was so bad the mountain was closed for a day , maybe two. Man if I could have boarded then like I can now it would have been a blast.

I remember seeing younger guys come out of the upper trees eating shit and asking them how to get out of the snow..

Real learning experience and ill never forget it. Neck deep on the groom, well there was no groom but you get the point.

Headed out in the morning to Utah. Looks like spring skiing at least thru tuesday. But the beauty and experience will,be priceless.
