I have been catching my heel back edge lately and wondering why. Once every 3 times out, I bite it hard because of this. I then took my video and pointed it down to look at my board and realized...

1. Im sliding on steeper hills, so when I switch to the other edge my board isnt pointed enough down the fall line and obviously would be more prone to catching a back edge...

2. Im running pretty flat boarded. I dont really come up on edge all that sharp. I'm not really sure what I would need to do to change this. I've tried to take a sharp tilt on the board but it just doesnt go up on angle all that well. The board just wants to slide no matter what I try, and when I do a up / down dynamic for the turn, I noticed I'm unweighting the board almost too much and more prone to catching edges.

Not sure what things I could try to work toward fixing this. I'm ripping it down pretty fast and realizing that I'm JUST BARELY holding an edge during my travels.

idk...i'll let snowolf advise...but if ur catching the tail back edge, ur not on moving on to the nose enough or fast enough, or you're rushing to fast and your nose may not in the fall line enough and get lower....really squat/crouch in the knees and keep your leading shoulder pointed down the fall line. I think if you squat into the turn...lowest being at the apex/middle of the curn, you really can't keep the board flat and it will bite the edge more.

another thing if you have trouble getting on edge...board might be a tad too wide

Adjust your binding to get some forward lean. You want to bend your knees and forward lean forces you to do so. That will really improve angling your board on both toe and heel side.

For dynamic turns, if you do the edge change early, you need some speed to counter gravity. The more speed, the earlier you can do the edge change.

Try to practice very short radius dynamic turns on terrain that's not so steep. Doing short turns at more and more speed will force you to do cleaner edge transitions. That will help you prepare for the steeper stuff.

As Behi mentioned, forward lean is commonly overlooked. It can make a big improvement. How well fitting are your boots?

You may also be shifting your weight to the rear as you move to steeper slopes. This can make the board back heavy and make turning more difficult. Try and focus on keeping the weight balanced and a little forward.

Also post the video, may help provide some details.
