Picked up a custom x that has some damage to the topsheet and edge. I know the edge can be fixed, but level with me and let me know how bad you think the crack is, and if its repairable? Anyone have a crack like mine and get it repaired? Howd the finished product come out?

The crack looks bad, and sounds bad when you flex the board, but looking at it from the edge, it seems as if its just the topsheet thats damaged.

Sorry to bring the bad news but that board is done.
have you ever wanted a retro style one ended board?

the core is cracked, not repairable
i was under the impression that the core was the yellow material in the middle? Guess not huh? So not even an epoxy job would fix? I got it close to free yes

What do you look for to make the judgement that the core is cracked and not repairable? Just trying to get a clear idea of whats going on here
Where that crack is and the physics involved in creating it, the inner core has to be damaged. It is unavoidable.

The board had to be felxed severely to crack the top sheet like that.
I'd bring it to the shop and they'll epoxy and press it for a small fee.

The only problems you'll have with it is the boards effective edge won't be as aggressive because it's flex has been compromised.

But unless you're sending it 50mph+ You shouldn't have a problem cruising on it.

Get your money's worth out of it and look for a new one.

There isn't that much core out at the tip maybe 1/8th inch. The way the crack goes all the way across. More important than the core being cracked is that the top sheet of fiberglass is cracked. Putting epoxy in there want do much, it would be like cutting a 2x4 in half then glueing it back together.

This is true. The fiberglass topsheet is what adds strength to the tips, not so much the core. But the board is still ridable when it gets re-epoxied. You just can't expect it to act like it did before it snapped.

That would be the sidewall...
I rode my board like that for a while, didn't epoxy it or do anything didnt feel like wasting the effort. Made nose presses super easy!
So, I rode the board a couple weeks ago at Okemo. Wasnt that bad to be honest for cruising, definitely not a custom X at its 100%, but definitely felt better than my damn dominant.

This. And definitely don't stomp any big kickers or boxes with it or the thing might splinter on you right there.
Time to make a swallow tail.
One thing you can try is peel off like 6 inches of top sheet (or less or more just throwing an arbitrary # out there with no rhyme or reason) on either side of that crack and re glass it, new paint if you care about looks and you might be able to salvage it. At least thats what I would do if getting another is out of the question.
I recently bought a jones mountain twin on eBay, so it is no longer covered under warranty. After the last wax and tune I noticed about a 5 or 6 inch long crack on the topsheet just outside the rear binding. Does this look like something that could be fixed (epoxy and pressed combination?) by a professional. I've only spent 12 days on my jones, and I hate to think that I'm now stuck with a dud without a warranty bc I wanted to save $50 by buying it on eBay....

looks like that board folded behind the rear binding from a tail block or tail heavy landing.

chances are very high that board is toast, sorry

if it doesn't flop around when u ride it...well....ride it till it does...
