And damnit they are so comfy. I wore these 3 seasons ago, and ditched them because they kept loosening up on me (speed lace) and my feet were swimming after a few runs and the liner packed out a little.

But I was digging through my shit looking for my bevel/edger and saw the motos in the back of a cabinet. I figured, Hmm, lemme try them on.

Man they are comfy. I have narrow heels, wide feet but not in the toebox, they're wide right in the middle. On top of all of that my feets are low volume.

Since the Motos I've tried:

Nike Kaiju. Heel lift, plus a little narrow which hurt my wider foot.
K2 Maysis. Amazing heel hold with the inner boa, but wasn't wide enough (my stupid foot is wide in the middle)
32 Lashed. Finally something wide enough but it's so big volume wise, that as soon as the liner molded just a little, it didn't fit me well anymore.
DC Gizmo. fits well width wise, but again, just too much volume.

Anyway this is getting too long. My question is, I know the Motos are low level shit. Is the fit on the higher end burtons similar enough to the Motos? Or are they all very different in fit? I'm in San Diego where local shops are slim pickings so I have to try them on where I can find them, or order and try and return. Trust me, I've put on every boot I can.

I like the convenience of the speedlace but they do get loose so I'm probably looking at laces.

Worst come to worst I can just stick with the motos but many they're like jello.

EDIT: Fuck it. Going to order a pair of Raptors and Hails and try them out. the Hails sound a little soft but I never really carve hard or need a stiff boot anyway. My Gizmos are pretty soft.

Hopefully the articulating cuff will help with heel hold too.

Next year's hails are stiffening up a tad to a level "6" on the burton scale - which is what the old grails were. I wear grails and they are awesome med-stiff and very comfy. If you can wait I might suggest holding off for the new hails in the fall.

Or find a pair of Grails:thumbsup:

They're 2 years old, should be pretty cheap & not too hard to find:thumbsup:

I have some Motos about that age lying around somewhere. My experience boot shopping this year is that the Burton's seem to run a bit small, but I have an unusually high instep (with a narrow foot so I love me some Maysis) so your mileage may vary. Let us know what you think once you try the Raptors/Hails.

Normally I wear a 12W boot, but I tried on the motos and they were a pretty good fit, kinda tight in the toe area for me, they seemed to loosen up after walking around the shop for 20 minutes but I ended up going with the rulers. Something I noticed right off the bat was they already felt broken in, I plenty of room in the toe, I actually had to check to see that my toes were up against the tip of the boot because they were so comfy that I couldn't feel anything pressing up against them. And the 2 part liner really locks your heel in place with the rulers, as I'm sure is the same with the other upper level boots. I haven't had a problem with the speed laces yet and I've got about 15 hours of wear and riding on them this year. I have really high arches and the traditional laces always seem to put too much pressure right on the top of my foot giving me pain. Anyways just my 2¢...
