I'm an intermediate-advanced rider looking to buy my first board (have used rentals for many years). I ride all mountain, love to bomb hills, carve, and do some freestyle (no jib, love pipes and jumps). I will be primarily riding California slopes (Bear, June, Mammoth).

I'm trying to decide between the LIB TRS BTX and the K2 Turbo Dream. I'll be buying Union Force SL bindings.

I'm 5'8 and weigh 120lbs. For the LIB i'm thinking i would get a 154 and the Raygun a 150.

Does anybody have experience with these boards or just general input they can offer for me?

Which do you think would be better for me for my riding style and west coast snow?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

(sorry for a bit of a repost, had the last title wrong)

well the turbo dream and raygun have a slight set back which makes it easier to ride powder so if you ride alot of that maybe go that direction.

If you ride switch alot or icy conditions the trs maybe a better option. true twin with mag.

150 Raygun. Magne is pretty useless for you in SoCal and the Raygun is just more fun to ride. If Raygun was a typo and you really meant Turbo, still that.

Actually Magne is pretty usefull up here in the Mammoth/June parts.

As far as which board is better for so-cal. We have carried them both in the past simply because they are BOTH fun boards for so-cal. My two cents would be that if you are looking for a board to "bomb hills, carve, and do some freestyle (no jib, love pipes and jumps)" then the TRS is better suited to what you are looking for. If you were throwing some jibs in there then I would lean more to the K2s.

Wait, we mentioned if you were riding Mammoth more Magne might help... If you're riding bear more it's just gonna drag and slow you down.

Oh June's reopening? Sick nasty.

Seriously for every single condition I would rather ride a Raygun or a Turbor than a TRS. Just my thoughts.

Ah so it looks like my decision isnt final then hahah. The Turbo dream looks great all around, people just say it's slightly lacking for freestyle (pop and edge hold in pipes), and obviously the TRS is better for those things and ice.

So have you experienced the drag of the TRS in softer conditions? What is it like? Manageable and still fun or just annoying?

Yea i will probably be reading in Bear the most, it's closest to me
:dunno:

The TRS does not have more pop than the Turbo. Carbon vs No Carbon. grip in the pipe? How much pipe are you really going to be riding and at what kind of level? Not to mention how long people rode pipe without magne.

Honestly if it were me I'd be shooting for a Raygun. It's a bit softer than the Turbo and will just be more fun at Bear.

Another actual southern California rider here chiming in. I would pick the TRS personally. TRS is more stable at speed (bombing), has better edge hold (carving) and definitely holds it's own as a pipe and booter board. Like P3 said- if you were hitting rails a lot then the k2, but for slaying the hill and jumps (especially the pipe) you should go TRS.

Just my opinion.

Debate is good, that's how people come up with the best answers :D

So now i think i'm leaning more towards the TRS. Think that would be better for Bear riding?

flat is more stable for sure, i prefer it in the park, on jumps. I also find it slow to respond and kind of blah to ride. I like c2 or even btx for riding any other terrain, quick and easy to turn, better float in pow and chunky snow. I dont love or hate magne but i dont like k2's hyper progressive.

That's a neat opinion. Mine is different. See how that works? Now get over yourself.
Nope, you're wrong. I'm right. Sorry, internet rules. There are no opinions, only facts, of which yours are wrong. It's a blessing and a curse always having the correct opinions, it's a daily struggle I have learned to deal with.

Wow, way to help people. Take an idiotic stand and then criticize anyone who dares to give a different opinion. Grow up you loser. The industry is doing just fine with you out there in Co influencing absolutely nothing. Have a great day.

Thanks for the input walove!

I'd like something that's good for a variety of conditions.

Now i'm trying to decide between the LIB TRS and the LIB Jamie Lynn C2BTX

I've read that the Lynn performs better in powder because it is set back, and is less grippy in normal conditions because its magnatraction is less pronounced. Still great for pipe and jumps apparently.

Thoughts?

Did I not just explain the rules of the internet?

Not to mention I have done more and will continue to do more for the industry than you. So there's that.

And third, congratulations on noticing the tone of my internet rules post. Which was comical and sarcastic. Pretty clear I thought... no?

If you've decide on Mervin definitely get the TRS. It's the best board they make. The Lynn is stiff. Not what you want for Bear and would really only be better than the TRS at Mammoth on a dump day.

Oh if you want Magne maybe check out the Rossignol TrickStick. I prefer camrock to any CRC. Its more locked in between the feet, better in every way on rails, floats just as well, and the the Mag on Rossi's is less pronounced than the TRS. In my experience it grips as much as you'll ever need it to, but never more. Where the Mag on the TRS is very much cruise control. Up on edge, wait, up on the other edge. It does all the work for you. Which for me is very blah.
