I don't understand spending $2,000+ on a computer that could be built for $500. Might just be me, but the $1,500 "I'm an Apple Snob" tax is not worth it.

Of course you can't really build laptops, but something non-mac with the same hardware would be at least $1,000 less.

And by the way, Mac's are a class status. The adds on the page of this thread Scream it, look at this dousche LOL.

Not so true. Price out a comparable laptop with an i7 processor and 8GB ram and 17" monitor...the are all about the same price.

What you're saying is why would you buy a Lib Tech when you can buy a Morrow or Lamar....

Probably more like why buy a Burton Vapor when you can get a Never Summer Raptor for $300 less :dunno:

Anyways, sorry to rain on your parade, I'm just kind of an Apple hater. They rely more on public image and individuality then they do on function and cost. Yet they're still a successful company and your buying their products, so it must work.

if you've got the extra money and really like macs there's nothing wrong with them. I think the other guys just saying that if you want to get the most bang for you buck you shouldnt go for apple products, and i agree with that. grats on the laptop thu :D

I love my Mac so congrats on getting one. Status symbol my ass they just work so much better for certain practices. 25 years on a PC and having built my fair share of them when I finally said fuck it and bought my Macbook my frustrations ended. Sure I've destroyed one hard drive but you find me a lap top I could fucking punt across the room thats hard drive would survive and I'll be impressed (military lap tops do not count). They still replaced my hard drive and didn't question the fact it had a giant dent in it. Their customer service has been what's really impressed me whether I was in Jackson Hole and my power chord exploded or in Denver and needed things replaced it's universally the same.

Oh and Lamar makes some boards that might surprise you guys.

Dude there is way more to the mac life than just that... The mac os is far superior to windows, or linux. The hardware itself, and the new build of the unibody macs are also FAR superior to any window machines. Not to mention that virus' on macs are unheard of, and all the software is integrated and designed to work with eachother, making it extremely simple and enjoyable for anybody to use.

I have not always been a mac user. I just made the jump to the mac world about 8 months ago and have not looked back since. I used to be a die hard windows user and swore I would never own a mac. But after having endless issues with windows and pc's I decided to take the plunge.

The only downside to mac is in the gaming department... If you are a die hard gamer I would definitely encourage you to go with a windows machine... But for anything other than that mac is second to none

I have a 15" macbook pro and I love it if you couldn't already tell

I'm happy for yall and I realize Mac's have a place, I'm just a poor computer nerd so they seem fiscally illogical to me. That and the "Chooser".....

Actually though, for all the shit Vista has gotten, the fixed product (Windows 7 is fixed Vista relaunched) is really impressive. I hate booting up an XP computer now, not to mention that I have NEVER gotten a virus on my HP with fixed-Vista, despite plentiful searching for something that starts with a P.

If I was rich I'd probably own a Mac too...

my favourite part of macbook pro's are the aluminium unibody... no worries of crushed screens or other nonsense. I too was a hardcore PCer since 95... but I've changed my ways and not looking back

edit: yes the OS totally kicks ass... I already multitask like a mofo when it comes to these things and osx pushes that to another level with Expose and Spaces etc
