Anyone on here a local in Washington State, particularly Bellingham? I'm from Aus and travelling by myself planning to snowboard Mt Baker from Feb 14 to Feb 21.

I'm looking for any locals to board with during that week, or any suggestions on what to do at night, and any suggestions getting to and from the mountain. Looks like during the week I'd need to catch the 72X bus to Kendall, before getting the Mt Baker bus to the mountain.

I'm yet to organise where to stay as well. lol. But if I'm catching the bus and staying in Bellingham, looks like central so I'm near the bus is a good idea.

Hitch hiking is fairly easy...from Mt Bkr Hwy (MBH)and Britton Road is the main place...or you can try from MBH and Orleans street by the gas station ...be out there by 7am.

Also check Craiglist rideshare and there is the Baker Bus on holidays and weekends. http://www.bakerbus.org/

If you do the Kendal bus 72x...get off on Wheeler Rd, go to the Texaco Gas station and hitch from there.

Getting back, hitching from the lodge...you want to be ready to go by 3-3:30pm and you will likely get a ride back to Bham. Weekdays might be a bit slow...unless there is dumpage.

Idk...if funds support, but if you can find a VRBO place in/around Glacier or Snowline or call Chair 9--Pete...to see if he might have a place...(staying in/around Glacier is going to be much easier and probably not that much more $ since the LBS will have happened) Contact Chair 9

Have no idea what I'll be doing but willing to try to meet up for a tour...pm me

Thanks for the great reply wrathfuldeity, I didn't even think about hitch hiking or craigslist. But I guess getting out to Britton Road by 7am might be a challenge as it's a bit out of the main area.
