Hey,

I spent more time in the park than I usually do tonight, and I am having some trouble with the two things in the title. If anyone could maybe help me out from how I describe it I would greatly appreciate it.

Backside 360 (I apologize if I have my backside/frontside backwards. it always confuses me.)
So I approach the jump, come off the lip on my toe edge, make the rotation etc etc.
It all goes well, until I hit the landing. My board makes the 360 degrees of rotation every time.
But, my board hits, and then the rest of my body weight follows shortly after and I land on my ass. I am always in the backseat.
Is there something simple I am missing about how to keep my body weight over the center of the board or is it just take a lot of painful practice.

Frontside Boardslide
Again correct me if I am wrong, but I understand a FS slide to be one where my back is facing DOWN the hill.

So my problem with these is that I approach the rail from the left side, go off my toe edge, do the 90 degree rotation on.
But I cannot stop the momentum of me traveling to the right (from when I ollie off my toe edge) and I fall right off the right side of the rail.
Basically, its like I am just tapping the rail and jumping over it instead of sliding on it.

How do I get off the lip without to much right momentum so that I don't slide off the rail? Or is it again, just me needing to practice and it can't be explained.

for your backside 3's, just practice them on side hits over and over, and eventually you'll get them. its easier to learn 180's, 360's switch or reg just doing side hits than hittin a jump even if its small. And for your frontside boardslides, try coming up to the rail so its infront of you, and just pop on and shift your board, no edge pressure. and just try to shift your board so that your front foot locks onto your rail, or your middle, depending how far you pop on. But i like to do it under my front foot, and i dont really hop towards the rail, i just drop in and pop and shift my board. i think i carry a bit of an angle into it but not to much. usually just parallel to the rail. if your doing all that, try going faster and doing your technique. its whats comfortable with you i guess. but i like my way :dunno:

thanks for your help. i wasnt even close to approaching the rails parallel so I will attempt that. It adds a bit more "fear factor" to overcome going straight at it.

That problem with your 3's is all about balance. Try to have your weight centered, seems like you're hanging back to much...

That FS boardslide, most people go at it with an angle (Boxes and rails you need to jump on, not those which you can slide onto), and when landing at the box/rail, just have a slight angle which stops you from sliding sideways, and then directly get your board flat. It's not trying to keep it on an angle, visualise it as an first touch.

I'd aim for an approach at 20 to 30 degrees angle...

For your BS 3's I would recommend taking a look at your pre-wind and your initial release of the wind as you are leaving the jump. A problem I frequently have when spinning backside is initiating the spin with my right shoulder only (I ride regular) which throws be off balance and usually leaves me falling backwards onto my butt when I land. When I initiate the spin with my right shoulder only, I have a tendency to also throw it back (like I'm leaning backwards). Hard to say what you're doing without actually seeing you ride.

Another thing you could do is have a friend film you and watch what you do wrong.
