Introducing our Shaper Series. We will be doing an early release of two models in the series, The Insta/Gator and the Maverix. Inspired from our Swift and shaped by owner Tim Canaday, the Insta/Gator and Maverix are early rise, tapered boards designed for a surfy feel and easy turn initiation. Equipped with our Fusion profile which is a directional CRC or combination of our Original and Ripsaw Rocker Camber profiles. The Fusion profile is camber heavy over the back binding for pressure and spring out of a turn and a little more rocker over the front foot for a looser, manageable feel. This is a profile we've utilized in the Swift and Twenty Five. All the boards in the series feature original artwork from our longtime illustrator Sam Turner and Swift base.

The Insta/Gator: The least amount of taper in the series, making it a bit easier for riding switch. You can size down on this coffin shaped board about 5-10cm. I sized down 10cm., to a 151! I haven't ridden a 150 cm snowboard since the 80's on a Sims 1550FE. With the surface area and taper, I was able to stay ontop of deep pow while still having stability. While having a small, super nimble board to gyrate short radius turns in the tightest trees, off camber small banks off catwalks, rope lines, rock gardens, slush push piles etc. I was riding the tightest trees at Copper and getting into nooks & crannies or places where I normally don't or couldn't ride. The massive camber on the tail of the Fusion profile give it so much spring for doing hop turns and the shorter length make it really easy to throw around in the air. So much fun!

The Maverix: For me the Insta/Gator would be quiver board. I need something longer to lay out big GS turns on open groomers. The Maverix could be my only stick (for the rest of my life).
I loved this board! You can Euro carve and lay out long toe-side turns like on the Chairman or Swift or aggressive medium to short radius turns and it finishes a heel side turn like no other board I've ever ridden. Riding on the side of a long low angle run, where it's slightly banked, I was slashing heelside turns over and over like an endless wave. It's a little softer torsional than the Swift and the Fusion profile combined with the taper make it so manageable in tight, technical lines. I rode Outhouse at Mary Jane a notoriously shitty bump run and couldn't believe the control I had on this board. It made even that fun. Very surfy feel. This is a dynamic turning board, like no other.

The pre-release is limited 400 units world wide. Insta/Gator will be available in 151 & 156, Maverix in 157 & 163. Look for these 2 models in select, kick ass retailers in the next couple weeks.

Here are the specs and sizes that will be offered for 2017/18.

Bonus: Coming for 17/18 season, The Big Gun. Perfect for those big flowy turns on open groomers or wide open, above tree-line terrain (can you say the French/Swiss Alps?). The Big Gun has a generous 20mm taper and with our Fusion profile making it extremly nimble for a board of it's size, while giving you the surface area and stability of a big stick.
Sizes of Big Gun will be 165,169,174. Also, look for me to run a thread giving away an Insta/Gator. No one gives back to the SBF community like The Chairman and Never Summer Industries.

That Maverix looks a LOT like a dupraz with the tip of the tip sawed off.

Am I correct in guessing that it has a set-forwards from the narrowest part of the waste? (I.E. using the narrowest part of the waist as a reference, the bindings are set forwards rather than back).

Dupraz with a CRC profile... that could be really really fun.

If Chairman's sidecut number is the same as turn radius, it does not have nearly the sidecut of the D1. Isn't the D1 more like 6.5m?

Took my new Swift out for the first time at Baker this past weekend, and absolutely loved it for floating over pow and laying trenches on the groomers. Looks like the further evolution with this new shaper series is exactly what I'm looking for!!

I would also be excited to get the specs on this, though I understand if you guys want to keep that under your hats for a time. I'm hoping it's much like the Maverick shape, just up-sized. That would be a great board.
