Whats up everyone, just moved here from the east coast. I've only been snowboarding a few times about 8 years ago but I really want to get back into it. I live in Silverdale WA so if you guys have any recommendations I'm all ears. Also if anyone is looking for a beginner to tag along let me know haha.

Does anyone know if they do any bus trips in our area? Back home I had a lot of friends that would just grab a bus from a local skate/surf shop, pay like 90$ for the fair and lift ticket, and it would drop them off and pick them back up in the evening. They really liked it for quick day trips or when they didnt feel like driving. Sounds like something them might have around here. Thanks!

The closest is Hurricane Ridge and then across the sound at snoqualmine...any way you are abit screwed in Silverdale...you will be better off thinking about planning a weekend and sleeping in the car. And even that you got fk'd I-5...so your best bet is to leave the dale by noon Friday or catch a 7pm ferry, drive, camp out, first tracks Sat and Sun and then die on the return to Kitsap.

Used to live and stationed at Silverdale(shore duty) and bremerton(sea duty) on my Navy days. There is no bus trip that i remember from Silverdale so i would normally go during the weekends to either Snoqualmie,Crystal mountain or Stevens Pass on day trips and just go back home that same day. There was a guy that is/was a member here from Port orchard. Just go up to any of those places and you'd meet some riders that might be from your area or close by. Goodluck and have fun!

Luckily my schedule is three days on three off, so most of the time my "weekend" is during the week. Hopefully that will help with lines and traffic. I was just at hurricane ridge, but just to hike and look around. Is it any good? Seemed like a weird place to go snowboarding.

I've only been to Hurricane ridge to sled, that was before i got into skiing. I think there was a tow rope there. Snoqualmie would be the place i'd go first just to get back into snowboarding. Their runs there are pretty easy and fun, though they do have some real steep ones further down the mountain. Alpenthal(other side of I-90) is where much steeper runs are. Traffic wise during the week would be crazy around 3-5pm since everyone is heading home. I would normally drive back through the Narrows bridge, but at times i took the ferry to Bremerton so i could sleep in my car.

I wouldn't waste your time with snoqualmie if you're going for the day. Crystal mountain is just as far, a little bit more expensive, but twice as big. And this is coming from someone who is getting a seasons pass to snoqualmie. Snoqualmie central is the best to get back into snowboarding, it's really easy runs, that's where I learned to snowboard last year. Crystal is nice also, it's a good intermediate mountain in my opinion. Alpental id about 2 miles away from snoqualmie, it's like a small version of Crystal Mt. If you ever decide to hit up snoqualmie or even Crystal Mt lemme know, id be happy to go if I don't have work. I think im gonna go to Crystal Mt this Sunday, first weekend they're open.

Ill check it out, I'm still getting all of my gear together other wise I would go. Do any of you guys have any good board/boot recommendations? I want something decent to start with that way i'm not buying new gear ever week.

I think you commented on one of my other posts. I'm 20 min from port orchard, my wife actually works there. If let me know whenever you plan a trip, I'm trying to have everything together in the next week or two.

What days are you available? I'm thinking about skipping school one of these Mondays and going up to Crystal. Just make a post in the boards section asking what board you should get, post your height, weight and what you want this board to do. I got a beat up 2014 burton custom flying v with bindings for sale if you want it haha, $150 w/ bindings.

Otherwise I'd look at evo.com for snowboards, they're based in Seattle. Got some good deals in my opinion on new boards for today and tomorrow. I'm probably gonna buy another board just in case my beat up one doesn't work, if the beat up one does work fine ill just return my board.

My schedule is kind of crazy, I work three days in a row then I have three days off. Next week I have tues, wed, and thursday off. Ill message you my contact info. Ive been looking through that tread trying to find some stuff, it would be great to grab a used board and bindings but im 6"1', 195 pounds so I need to find a bigger all mountain board from what ive been reading.

Yeah at 195 lbs a 153 would be pretty small and pointless. Get a board for your weight rather then you're height by the way

Post your weight, height, and foot length (not boot size, actual measured foot length) along with what your interested in doing and I'm sure you will get some suggestions. If you don't have boots yet (or even if you do) make sure you check out WiredSports boot fitting thread first to get the right size.

Anyways, I ride at Snoqualmie too. Usually out Sundays and Mondays and hopefully some weeknights if I can get off work early enough. Send me a PM if you want to meet up sometime. I'm a beginner/intermediate but wouldn't mind hanging out on the easy slopes for a bit. I wouldn't think about going to Snoqualmie until they have Central open. West is good if you only need to ride the magic carpets, but the bunny slope (Little Thunder) is cut across the fall line and makes it difficult to turn. Central has the better learning area and East is great once you are ready to get off the bunny slopes in my opinion.
