Older Guy Binding advice

40 year surfer, 15 years boarding (I'm about 50 yrs old). Board out west, off piste, trees, powder seeker and groomers with guests. No park and few jumps (blew knees wakeboarding). Ride a Never Summer Summit, weigh 160lbs.

Think I need canting for the old knees and really considering flows b/c getting up/down gets a little old. Not willing to sacrifice much performance for that though. Thinking 2014 Flow NXt line (RS?) or Rome Targas but open. Rode Burtons for last 5 years. Thoughts?

I have never ridden any Flows, but from what I have heard, their nicer bindings are top notch. I just get some weird pleasure from the click click click of ratcheting down my Burton bindings...
No canting, but the now's would fit your riding style.
ive never used flows, however, it is certainly possible to strap in without sitting down with regular bindings
Check out rome 390s. That's what I use. they have this like rubber band that keeps the binding open so all you have to do is reach down. No sit down.
I'm an old dad with a FUBAR'd back. I can stand and strap in with conventional bindings. I absolutely hate sitting to strap in. I've sported Flows for 3 yrs now and don't see going back.

You can strap in like regular bindings with Flows if you so choose.
Any buddies at the hill you know ride them might borrow you a board to run down the bunny hill or something??? Local shop have a demo pair maybe???

My local guy has let me demo stuff, demo'd some Multiva's I always wanted to try
I have Flow NXT ATs and Rome Targas. I don't sit down when strapping into either, but I don't even stop to kick into the Flows. I wouldn't recommend older Flows in powder, but the new ones are supposed to be able to strap in in the traditional manner as well so that would be less of an issue.
I tried old flows years ago and hated them....so idk abt new ones. But just rig up a stiff cord on the ratchets and you can get unstrapped in a second and getting strapped-in is also easier...also usually standing to strap-in.

idk...has not happened. It takes a fairly good yank and it has to be in a fairly straight up direction to release. Do what ya all want, but it works great for me.
right i just imagine a stick or something getting jammed in there and having it not release, that would suck.. either way its cool you came up with something that works for you.

Well out here we don't have sticks and twigs to worry about...cause they are buried under a 10 foot of snow base...but we have tree wells, the deep and avy concerns inwhich the ability to get out of your bindings can be a pita or saving your self.
