How long did your snowboard progression take? your first 360? your first tame dog? I'm just kinda curious! i'd like to hear anyones voices.

From day one, it took me 4 years for my first jib. This is logging about 6 days a year. In terms of progression, I really did this year compared to the other 3 years.
Day one I was able to make it down most of the runs at my local hill without falling (small hill, only 175 foot vertical drop). I was able to do my first rail by the end of the day (5 foot barrel about a foot and a half wide). Since then I've boarded about 30-35 times over 4 years at small-medium size local MN hills. I was just able to land my first 360 this year. I'm not sure what a tame dog is. By my third year I could make it down most runs in switch, but it wasn't second nature. Still isn't second nature, but I'm getting better at it. Getting into park stuff too and can do most of the basic tricks (5050, backside boardslide, a little frontside boardslide, frontside 180, starting frontside 360, backside 180 off smaller hits, tail grab, 180 off, fakie off, etc).

a tame dogs a front flip, i just started getting my 360s down and this is my second season. but that's cause i visited oregon over the summer and got lessons from this coach called big mike. any of you at timberline lodge give him a shoutout for me he was the chillest most down to earth guy i met.
The thing about this question is there's a BIG difference between doing a trick once and actually getting it - which is a much longer and fuzzier journey.

For me:

First 360 - somewhere around 1-2 weeks
Landing 360s every time - about 3 months of riding every day

Keep in mind I had a lot of coaching and took instructors lessons on top of freestyle lessons to learn snowboard mechanics. Plus my first season was in Whistler riding every single day, so by no means is this normal.

A lot of progression will be influenced by the frequency you get to ride, so I don't think anyones progression rate is all that useful honestly. The person who rides more and in larger/closer grouped periods of time is typically going to see faster progression.

Honestly, landing a trick once is pretty easy if you understand how it works and are willing/able to work on it constantly. However doing it on call WITH style is a whole different matter and that's something that's a lot harder to track because it happens over a long period of time.
