Sadly, it's the end of the season for me in NJ. I'm thinking about applying wax for the first time by myself so I can put the board away for the summer. Before I apply the wax, should I use a base cleaner or not..? Read a couple of threads and some say yes, some no. :icon_scratch:

If I do use the base cleaner, can I use product such as (Maintex 32 oz. All in One Oxy Quart-164332HD at The Home Depot)

Thanks.

Is you base dirty? If you rode through a lot of shit liek dirt and rocks from spring riding then probably want to clean it so your not just waxing over that crap. Hows your base looking? This wouldn't be a bad time for a base grind if its pretty beat up, then your good for next season you don't have to clean it and you can just wax it up now and scrape it in the fall. Thats my plan because my base is really chewed up right now thanks to park riding and a lovely rock crusted hill called lake Louise.

If your base looks clean and its in good shape just wax it.

Personally, I only use a good brass brush, some Scratch-Brite and a cloth.
Efficient enough if your base is moderately clean.
