quick question about sizing

Just pulled the trigger on a 153cm Rome Shank (so stoked!), and before I buy some bindings to go with it, I just want to make sure on sizing... Waist width of the board 255, I've got size 10.5-11 boots. I should go for large bindings right?

Generally yes, but depends on the bindings...
thinking a pair of missions at the moment, but open to alternatives... just looking for a nice pair of playful park/all-mountain bindings that are on the softer flexing side but not too soft... missions seem like a good fit for what i want, but suggestions from other brands are welxome!
go with the missions i have 2010 model and it still looks, works, and feels new!
For burton you're on the edge of medium and large. I wear 10.5 boots, can't get a large binding to center. I end up with way more heel overhang.

Try medium first.
So does waist width play into the decision at all? Or is it literally all boot size that determines what size bindings you get?

Boot size determines both waist size and binding size. Anything under about 11.5 or so works on a standard board. 12 and you start thinking wide.
Alright wicked. So we're thinking most likely large would be the best choice, but try a medium first? I might be ordering online and may not have a choice of trying... In that scenario, which size would be the safest bet to go for?
So I actually went and got new boots because the old ones were beaten to shit after seasons of use... I got Nike Vapens in a size 10... Strapped my boot into a pair of M/L Missions and it seemed to be on point.. Medium way to go then I suppose?
If you had even over hang (heel and toe) then you are good to go. I ride a 10 Vapen too and I would buy medium for sure!

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply brother! :)

Are you riding Mission's as well or something different? I'm also debating getting Union Contact's as well, but wondering whether the fit would be the same..
I've had cartels and my buddy has missions. I have the union force M/L. I went large with my salomon hologram but could have probably squeezed into a medium. It really just depends on the company.
How do you like the Forces? They playful and soft enough for the park?
They can be ridden all over the mountain but I would go with the contact pro if you want "playful".
And for for burton I would go with the Malavitas. Both of those bindings are super sick and can do it all. And you'll be set for many seasons.
Although I really like the sound of the Contact Pro's, those and the Malavita's are just a teeny bit more than I'd like to spend. Would regular Contact's suffice or you think those would be a bit too soft around the mountain?
I would not consider the contact too soft. My Ride Rodeos were too soft and they were junk.

Mission or contact in your size will make you a happy camper. Don't stress it. You are picking between two well made and loved bindings. Just pick one and don't look back.

In terms of sizing you would be fine with medium for Burton and M/L for Union. I had some Van boots that are bulkier than the Vapens and they were still ok in medium Burtons. For the old Union Forces I might have gone L/XL, but for anything with a Stage III (Atlas) or Stage IV (new Forces) baseplate the M/L should work.
Have not tried the Contacts, so not sure about that.

In terms of response, pretty much agree with what the others have said, but I think you are miscategorizing the Mission. The Mission is actually a bit stiffer than the Cartel, specifically in the highback. Good for freeriding, but if you are looking to play around in the park see if you can stretch at least to the Cartel for Burton.
For Union, I would look at the Atlas rather than the Contact TBH. Not quite as playful as the Contact, but definitely more responsive and more versatile if you want to hit the rest of the mountain.
Thank you both so much for the replies, I really appreciate all the info, concise and lots of detail. :)

Buuut I've now stumbled upon something. I've just found out there are no import fees or duties for snowboard gear coming into Canada now, so that frees up a bit of dough! That considered, would you guys recommend the Contact Pro's over Contact/Mission/Cartel/Atlas for what I'm looking for?

The Contact Pro, Atlas, Cartel, or Vita would all do the job equally well. It is more of a question of style/preference than performance. You will be happy with any of these.
Decision made, Contact Pro is the winner. Thank you both so much for your help tonight, can't put into words how much I appreciate it!!!
