Hey all,

I've been riding for the better part of 8 years now and would consider myself an experienced rider that can handle all conditions in the Northeast (man-made groomers/ice pack). I'm 5'9" 160lbs and currently riding a Ride Society 154 (all-mountain camber). I do a lot of all mountain riding (hit occasional kickers and jibs) without spending more than 20% of my time in the park. This year, I want to move towards a more playful style of riding doing butters, presses, etc as i'm getting bored of blasting down the slopes. The ride society feels pretty stiff and has pretty good pop, so to change things up, i'm looking to try out a rocker profile with decent flex and edge forgiveness while being able to keep up with my friends that blast down the hill. What do you guys think about the Ride Machete (2013) or the Ride Crush (2013)?

thanks!

Neither board is rocker. They are both flat with different amounts of tip and tail raise if anything.

Machete is on the all mountain freestyle side with a stiffer flex. Takes a lot to press but you can. The crook is definitely softer. Softer than the kink IMO and that's there soft park board. Since it's a flat profile you won't get shaking at high speeds. I bomb double blacks with my kink and feel just as stable as I do on the machete.

IMO thou if you are looking for a softer flexing board to jib and press on thou I would look for a rocker profile.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was hoping the Machete was going to be soft enough for flatland play yet stiff enough for piste runs but from what you guys are telling me, it doesn't sound like much of a change from my Ride Society. I think i'm going to take the Machete off the list for now.

From your description of the rocker profile, I think the flat then rockered tips may suit me better (ability to blast the piste and hold turns as well as goofing around doing presses/butters/jibs) than the conventional rocker profile of a dedicated jib board. Aside from the flex factor, how does the Kink differ from the Crook (Crush)? In terms of ride, how different is it going to feel between the Crush's Lowrize Rocker and the Kink's Twin Rocker?

The Crook replaced the crush this year. I only did 2 runs on it. So I can't speak a lot for the crook. It has the same profile as the machete while the kink has a longer stable zone. A little less raise in tip and tail. I ride my kink the most out of all my boards. Since it has the longer flat profile it's stable at my high speeds which I feel I fly. It's not a soft noodle, but once you get use to it it's definitely a fun flex. I felt the crook to be softer I think that's due to the profile thou. I did feel a tad unstable on my machete last year that's me thou. I didn't take the crook out of the park. Personally kink is my go to board.

Just letting you know I'm selling my Burton Blunt V-Rocker if you may be interested. It's like new, not used a handful of times. Sounds like what you may be looking for. Just thought I would mention it. Maybe these guys can give you some more insight on the board itself. Pros/Cons etc. I just prefer more speed and control and am going to a less playful board.
