So if someone claiming to be a sales rep is selling an entire line up of 2013-14 boards new on craigslist for $200 each what are the odds that these are pre-production boards that will not perform like a the standard factory press?

These are typically $450-$500. Thoughts?

hahah you guys are 'skeered

i'd say you're good. i used to ride prototypes my homie would get from his sponsor all the time.

do a visual inspection of the board paying attention to the base, sidewalls, edges - look for any bubbling under the topsheet; anything you'd look for on any other board.... buy em and be thankful that you live right near the Lib HQ

ha, ya this is the time that many company reps are trying to sell off their samples for next year. They have done their consumer/retailer demos and finished up with trade shows, they do not need their samples anymore, and in an attempt to recoup their money (since they buy the samples out of their own pocket) they will fire sale them at the end of the season.

This model exists for a bunch of gear, I have a friend who is in the same boat. He desperately needs to sell his stuff off at wholesale-ish because he has to buy it all up front from whatever company.

Salomon rep out here in San Diego, same thing. He's a friend of a friend. Brand new salvatore sanchez and bindings for $200 but I passed. He holds sales out by the beach a few times a year.

Just to put it into perspective any company that doesn't want their boards back from me or I can't get to acknowledge that they sent me stuff I sell for $150 bucks. Most of it has been ridden literally one day.

a quick search on CL and i found the post. searched reps name on google along with company and found linkedin profile... name and phone area code on posting matches city on profile... i'd say it's 100% legit. and the company in question makes some rad boards... if you're looking at one of those, i'd say get it! they look sick btw...

Reps in all industries do this. Hell, for the last several years I worked for a major cell phone manufacturer. Over the years I accumulated a HUGE inventory of cell phones and accessories. Upon leaving the position, I contacted them once to find out what they wanted me to do with this inventory. I gave it 3 months before that shit hit eBay. I made A LOT of money.
