Significant difference in feel?

Hey there, I have multiple boards.

One 154 skate banana with a waist width of 253

One 156 Libtech Lib Rig with a waist width of 253.

I bought a Ride Shadowban 155w which has a waist width of 258, I am 5’9, with size 10 boots and hover between 146-150 pounds.

Will there be a significant difference in feel between a 253 and 258? If so how? Also, would a Jones Mercury medium or Rome Katana medium be a better pairing for that board/board size? Thanks in advance :)

The skate banana and Shadowban are very different boards. You will notice that, rather than 5mm difference in waist width, IMO.
I invite you to look up the Angry Snowboarder's youtube reviews on both of these decks. :)
Yep, I get that part. Just that both my boards have been 253, so curious how that will affect it. The Lib rig is my “stiff” board for speed, but that is also 253. I watched Angry Snowboarder’s reviews, it was part of the reason I settled on the shadowban :)

The shadow ban will be closer to your Lib Rig but I suspect you'll find it to be a superior carver given the pure camber profile rather then the C3, you'll also find turning difference due to the different sidecut and the fact that you won't have edge disruption.

my personal experience with going from lib designs to traditional camber/edge's was that the non lib deck was better at slow speed stability and one footing
Interesting, I hope it will handle dust on crust good. Do you think that with a 258 waist width that will help if my boot size is 10? The turning/edge to edge is the part that confuses me. I see the board is rated as fast in turning and edge to edge, but when you are on a wide board with non 10 1/2 or 11 boots wouldn’t it make turning slow?

First, congrats on the shadowban! Not sure if you’ve noticed it yet, but that shadowban has base structure that your lib boards don’t have… that’s a good thing btw.
I’m a size 10 boot also, and I can tell you that 258 is not too wide… I wouldn’t want anything narrower than that. Katana bindings are awesome and I don’t think you would be disappointed with them at all. The Jones Mercury bindings would also be a sweet binding for the board. The katana is going win in the comfort and adjustability categories and the mercury will give give a slight bit of extra edge drive. But, edge to edge response of the Katana is splitting hair here. Personally, I’d throw Katanas on it, but I wouldn’t have problem either way. Basically, mount either and don’t think about it again.
In all honesty, I bet this becomes the only board you ride and the others collect dust.

I’m in 8.5 boots and finally explored some wider boards this year. Starting with the K2 special effects with a 280 waist, which really changed my perspective. It’s great in fresh pow, but I wouldn’t ride it in hard snow. My ankles do get tired and you really notice the width on a long toeside traverse.

My Stranda Shorty is 260, which is a good size for me… not too slow edge to edge and no drag on packed groomers. But I’ll go for my Stalefish with 265 when it gets soft. It’s really fun carving in soft snow, and it made me realize how much drag I had with the typical 252 waist. I wasn’t booting out, but man the drag!

But waist isn’t everything… nose width, taper, setback, profile, they all play a part.

You’re boots are about 15mm larger than mine, so a 258 is still relatively narrow.
