Is it A Girl? Cause it would be a lot more logical.
Ladies :dunno: you're not doing a good job fighting off stereotypes.
If her blood sugar bottomed out then she wasn't thinking anything. She was about to die either by accident or by disease and probably had no idea any of that mayhem was even going on.
No, no...it's that the driver was from Pennsylvania, not that it was a woman. No offense to PA SBF members, but I wonder what kind of training is required for a license there

Ding ding ding! ThunderChunky comes through with yet another dig against chicks. I have over 124k on my original clutch. So there. :cheeky4:

All joking aside, I hope the woman was okay. Those diabetic things can be scary.
i laughed my ass off when i first saw this, then i read the news article and felt sort of bad.

He totaled his car and 2 others 2 weeks ago in another episode. He is most likely going to loose his license and end up in a senior assisted living home.
at that point don't you think it is a necessary evil?
I've seen something similar happen. After my wife's sister's graduation from pharmacy school we were driving over to meet everyone for dinner. She was driving, I was riding shotgun, and my wife was in the back. We were sitting in traffic at a light on a four lane highway with a divider. I notice a vehicle in approaching traffic in the far lane all of a sudden dart across the highway, hit the divider jumping it while making no noticeable correction and enter the median. We're stuck with nowhere to go so I say nothing. He crosses the median, splits two cars and nails us right in the driver's side rear quarter panel. Everyone in our vehicle is fine, so I get out to check on the driver of the other car. At the time, I'm thinking someone is either shit faced drunk or dead. I was just thinking that through all of that, I saw no attempt to make any sort of correction. Whoever was driving that vehicle was either unconscious or dead.

I get up to the vehicle and find a guy in his mid-30s slumped over the wheel. As I get to the car, he starts to come to and I'm relieved that at least the guy isn't dead. I help him out and he's groggy and stumbling and I think he's drunk, but then it occurs to me that I don't smell any alcohol. If this guy is that drunk, I should be smelling alcohol. As we wait for the cops to arrive, he's becoming more alert. I see that he's fine, so I go back to make sure my wife and her sister are doing okay.

When the cops get there, they ask us what happened. My wife and her sister say they saw nothing, just felt the impact. I tell the cop I saw everything. I told him what happened, the told me to standby. He then went and talked to the guy. He came back and told me that the stories matched perfectly. The guy was stone cold sober and reported no previous medical issues. The cop told me that the guy said he had worked all morning at his job as a golf pro at a local golf course and the last thing he remembered was driving down the highway. He said he had no recollection between driving and being in a wreck. I told the cop that it made perfect sense because he hit that median at a good speed and he had to be out COLD not to have been brought to by that ride he had.

Just goes to show you, shit happens and none of us are necessarily immune. This guy evidently had no previous medical issues and just simply passed out at the wheel after working all morning and feeling fine. I'm just kind of glad he hit us. It didn't hurt any of us and she was just driving a POS Hyundai Elantra that she drove through college. If he hadn't hit us, he would've gone over a 30 foot embankment into a creek.

Man, I think I'm turning into a militant Atheist. Every time I read the comments on videos like these, I get pissed off at the number of "thank Gods" that get thrown around. Yea fuckers, thank God that she saved this 61 yo diabetic's life while millions of other innocent people are dying.

Thank God that the EMT's did their job and thank God for the doctors that treated her.

Sorry, I get into these religious rants every now and then. That video was crazy. I really think that people need to be retested for their license when they are 55. 70+ shouldn't even be allowed to drive in my opinion. Teenagers have better eye sight and coordination, but we don't let them drive. Why let an elderly that doesn't even have the coordination of an 8 year old drive?

Not hating elderly, it's just unsafe for everyone on the road. Medical conditions need to be checked too.

I say "Thank God" sometimes and I'm totally atheist. It's just an exclamation of relief rather than anything religious. I think a lot of people use that saying similarly nowadays.

I know some people in their 70's who are still pretty damned capable (at least more capable than a 13 year-old). Pulling their license would be unnecessary. Regular testing for anyone over a certain age would be okay with me.

I didn't say pull their license, I said retest them. If they are capable, let em drive. I know for a fact though that many are not capable. Same with people with medical conditions.

I understand your point about the "thank God" thing. That's usually only in speech though and not through Internet commentary. Also, you can tell through context if they are using it for religious purposes which they totally are in those comments on that article.

Even when I was religious, I thought it was too selfish to "thank God" for things like this.

Well He was busy alot with Tim Tebow, maybe now He'll be more receptive.

I guess I misunderstood you when you said, "70+ shouldn't even be allowed to drive in my opinion."

Okay, I didn't read the commentary on this article. I rarely read the commentary below any general news article. For some reason it draws the most wacky and off-kilter people to post. Maybe it's their only forum to be heard? Who knows.

Yea, that's my fault. I should have said that better. It was assuming that all 70+ year old people are incapable. Some probably aren't.
i love how the news station cut out all the laughter
wow! If that was caused by a diabetic low blood sugar reaction that's pretty scary! My mom had diabetes most of her life (since she was age two), and thankfully never had a reaction while driving! The reaction's are pretty scary stuff! Like snowwolfs buddy, my mom could be fine and have a blood sugar level of 200+ and then 2 hours later it's under 20. One time her blood sugar level dropped so low that the glucose machine read "low".

In most cases I could so to say "save" my mom when her sugar was low. Soda, candy, glucose tablets, milk, and just sugar helped out so many times! It's really like dealing with a drunk person. It's crazy. She used to say that she sometimes had no control of her body, and sometimes things wouldn't work. I remember one of the worst times I woke up in the middle of the night and just had an urge to check on her. When I did I found her just laying there all super sweaty. He eyes were wide open and she was just making a moaning sound. Had to call an ambulance that time... She said she was completely conscious and "there" but couldn't move or do anything. That would be so freaking scary!

Anyways I could completely see how that lady could do that while having a diabetic low blood sugar reaction! Damn thats scary
