Me and my brother are heading up to Killington from March 22 to 25th with the girlfriends. We will be riding Sat/Sun and the girls will only be riding Sat and going to the spa/shop on Sunday.

I am looking at various places to stay and wondering if we should stay in Rutland or Killington? Is there some sort of village near the hill like Tremblant? Restaurants? Wondering if maybe I should get a cheaper place in rutland and drive to the hill....

Looking at google maps and all the hotels in killington seem to be spread out on the main drag with no main area.

I know its a little vague but I am trying to get a feel for the area to decide where we want to stay.

Thanks

anything close to the mountain will be expensive be very ready to pay over 150 for a night per person

but on the other hand, I was researching Rutland last week, and I saw it was really cheap like 90 a night, so i'd say look around Rutland area, kayak is your friend

Killington has some great deals right now. They have a stay 3 nights and get the 4th night free, and you can stay at a place that's local like an inn that's less than 5 miles away. The Killington Grand Resort Hotel is within walking distance but very expensive.

I usually stay here - Mountain Sports Inn

The Killington website also has a 20-something percent off deal on your total stay including lift tickets. Go there and experiment with packages and amenities you want like a full breakfast or lessons included.

EDIT: Oh and the deals I listed are all valid for your weekend I think. I'm probably going up March 18-22

I stayed in a rodeway inn in rutland and it was a dump. There's plenty of restaurants in Killington if thats what you're looking for. I would personally stay in Killington if I were to ever go back but that's because I would only go there with a bunch of friends from college so being close to nightlife would be a priority.

My gf is from that area (manchester, vt) and rutland is...well...rutland. If you're looking for the ski weekend experience I would stay near Killi.

If you don't care about experience and want to save some cheese then stay in rutland. I'd bring mace though. And a gun.

Kidding...but seriously...not much in rutland...

Thanks for the replies. So where should I aim for, looking on the map it looks like the hotels are all spread on Killington rd. I guess closer to the actual hill the better.

I was up in Killington last year and stayed at the Econo Lodge on Rt 4. We were going for cheap, so we weren't expecting much. The drive was really short up the hill. We went out a few nights in Killington and also got dinner and drinks one night in Rutland. If you (and your gf's don't mind), the Econo Lodge wasn't terrible if you're going for cheap. We knew what we were getting ourselves into, but we also knew that we were just using the room as a place to change and sleep, so it was perfect for us.
