Anyone here buy the game yet? I just picked it up yesterday. seems pretty good, really technical. hard to play on a controller given the amount of buttons you need to press for combos...

If you check videogame forums then you'll find a lot of people that have criticized capcom for the game. Mostly complaints about how charging for downloadable characters, but I do not think the game will reach a critical mass of fans among the 2d community.

I am a huge fan of street fighter and tekken, but I do not plan to ever buy this game. I am looking forward to Tekken X Street fighter not being screwed up at launch by greedy accountants & managers

Seems cool but just doesn't have appeal to me that the Marvel vs. SF, Marvel vs. Capcom/MVCII, and Capcom vs. SNK/CVSNK2 had for me. Even the SF3 series seemed more appealing.

I have it. It's pretty fun. I haven't really played it in awhile though so there is nothing really drawing me to it. I think it's just been collecting dust for a bit. I think everyone is mad at the way Capcom handles their DLC since the first release of MVC 3. That's why I'm wearing of getting anything from them. I'm wondering how Tekken X Street Fighter is going to be.

We will all have to get over the DLC thing. With the modern era of online accessible gaming, this isn't going away. I'm sure it will peak (hopefully we are experiencing the peak now) and it will dip back down to "acceptable" levels.

I heard Sony is planning on forcing PS4 owners to pay for some type of online package in order for them to even play the game in single player. This is a rumor that quite frankly would shock my pants off if it ends up being true. The sad part? I know people will still buy the next PS regardless of all their whining. All it takes is a Crysis, Halo, or Metal Gear for people to buy a particular system.

I'm actually excited about Nintendo's upcoming console. A tablet like pad/controller with an LCD on it??? Man, the possibilities. Imagine your friend controlling a tank through the main TV and you're controlling the turret through your LCD screen. Badassery.

PC gaming went through a similar phase in the late 90's and early 2000's, especially as broadband became more and more prevalent. Developers were being rushed by publishers to release unfinished games: games both incomplete in content, and worse, games that had runtime bugs. It got to the point where sales so were bad at release because people were sick of playing half the game only to find out either the last half was nearly unplayable because of bugs or the patch overhauled so much content they'd have to start over to get the experience and regardless, patching the game invalidated the old saves, anyway. Now, it's swung back in favor of developers with some studios becoming so large, they can buy their publishers outright i.e. Blizzard Activision. The new saying pioneered in the mid 2000's when press asked the release date on anticipated titles was "When it's finished."

Anyway, I'd expect consoles to go through a similar maturation process given that internet only really became prevalent on 7th gen cnosoles and only really in the latter half of their lifespan.

Nintendo always has the best innovations, let's see if they can reinvent the console again.

DLC is actually fantastic when it's done right, take games like League of Legends for example. I would never spend money on anything, but the people who do allow everyone else to play a legitimately good game for free.

I think you're right Cheese, in the last 2 years there has been a surplus of really great blockbuster games that didn't rush and shine because of it. For a while there was a lot of unfinished crap being sold on the market and it was really the norm (and then there was the shovelware crisis on the Wii...)

I'm a pretty casual gamer at this point so I'm sticking to my PC, built it five years ago and it's still running brand new games fine.

Yea, the nice thing about PC's these days is you in the last 5 years or so that processing power both for CPU and GPU has drastically increased so much that developers aren't finding the need to make games super bad resource hogs. Back in the day, you had to have a PII 450, 2xVoodoo 2's in SLI etc. and you were breaking the bank every 12-18 months dropping like $2k or more for upgrades to keep up. Thankfully, developers have become smarter writing instructions to really take the load and put it on the video card so as long as you have a beefy DA, you can pretty much play everything.

Riot's model with LoL is pretty cool, the micro-transaction retail model really works well. I have spent a few bills on the game over the past 18 or so months just to out of boredom trying to get some new skins and rune pages and all things considered, it's about the same cost as playing an MMO, getting the expansion packs and paying your monthly subscription.

I think its more a case of PC gaming budgets being lower due to lower sales. Console is king right now.... and if your PC game requires a processor no more than ~6 months old then the potential pool of people who can run the game is tiny.

I've seen Street Fighter X Tekken as low as $25 on craigslist, but I think I will definitely give it a pass. I have too many games already and not enough time to play them, much less a game that half the people who own it are complaining about!

I'm in the exact situation as you man. I still haven't finished Infamous 1. I have 2 sitting in its wrapper. Never had a chance to fully play SF4 AE. So many games I want to play, so little time.

I can't wait until my son is old enough to play games lol.
