As the season approaches and I want to explore more. Been reading online for info and been exploring more backcountry/sidecountry at resorts (last year). My question is, how much fresh snow do you need to have a tree well form? For example, if the resort hasn't had fresh snow in almost a week are there any tree wells still there or will temperature changes, etc settle them in? If it never gets above freezing tree wells will just sit there? How prevalent are they actually? Really just looking at advice and education in the matter. I do know always ride w/ a partner in line of sight.
