Yeah I'm going in for surgery on Thursday. Bones are fractured in multiple places so I need some titanium plates in there.
Ugh, sorry to hear that. Heal fast.
Man, I broke my wrist much like that riding road bikes. It threw a wrench in my professional drumming career for sure. It took two years to get back on the road at a level close to what I'd been at. I've broken over 40 bones, and plates in my wrist took the most PT out of everything. It still hurts here and there every day. Here's wishing you get an easier go. I can say it started feeling much better after being stabilized by surgery. Hit that PT hard every day or you'll have mobility issues. There's like 15 joints in your wrist, and you're gonna have to unlock each one of them if you wanna get back to "normal."

Damn, that is clearly not what you were hoping to hear. Here's to wishing you good luck with the surgery and to a rapid and uneventful recovery.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
My friend’s girlfriend broke both her wrists 2 weeks ago. A newbie unlucky fall. She is not allowed to hold a spoon yet so you can imagine…

I broke mine in 2 places but somehow holding it and riding down to the ER popped it in place. The doc didn't even believe I broke it until they took an xray.
2 months in a cast and everything healed up nicely.
Damn, I hope the surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

this is what shocked me 2 years to get to 95% not sure it will ever be 100

Plates near any complicated joints like the wrist is going to affect the movement of the joint.
Many people actually remove the hardware once the bone is healed to allow better movement of the joint.

They put a screw in my scaphoid, never really considered having it removed, for me tendons and nerves are the biggest issue at this point

That's for the best, considering. My fracture was deemed clean enough to not need surgery, only to be declared a malunion after the cast came off. It needed corrective surgery, plates, the whole nine yards. That took most of last year, accompanied by the legal ménage à trois with my lawyer, insurance, and the hospital. This season I got mobility and strength back to where I am snowboarding again, albeit with a wrist guard under the glove. Still feel a sharp zing sometimes, like when I inadvertently see other people's bent wrists...

Best of luck with the surgery and recovery, drbionicblast.

Scaphoid screw gang rise up. Mine was over 20 years ago so I was young enough to heal up pretty quickly.

Yikes! Hope for a speedy recovery. Did the same kind of break when I was maybe 7-10 years old rollerblading down a slide lol.

I broke a collarbone many years ago and it didn't quite heal how it's supposed to be. I wonder if they can correct it.
My goal is to become bionic man.
Today's the day. Wishing you the best of luck with the surgery. Take good care and heal well. Godspeed.

When I hesitated about going the corrective surgery route I was told that they are better the sooner they are done and that after a certain time, there is a point where it isn't really beneficial or something to that effect. As part of the reconstruction I am due for a removal surgery in April that should further my mobility and strength.

Yes, complete your induction into the bionic race!

1 year of regular hand therapy and I only got to 80%. The plan is to leave the plate in.

@drblast if you want to hear about my experiences with the rehab PM me, might help depending on your break. I had multiple fractures on the end of my radius bone.

One week post, we trust that all went well. Don't know how well you can text / keyboard with your left hand, but when you're up to it, drop in and let us know how you are. Hope you have a good prognosis going forward.

Big +1 on that @drblast
Hey everybody, surgery went well and I have a titanium plate in my radius but the ulna will heal without intervention. Unfortunately this requires a cast that goes up past my elbow at least until the 8th when I'll get some sort of removable brace/splint.

I can move my fingers around well with no pain and can grip things so that seems positive.
