Looking for a new set of bindings of the ride alter ego deck I just picked up. Alter Ego being a powder / freeride board I am looking for a binding that would work well with it.

Currently have a set of union contact pros, that are somewhat mid / soft, that I can swap on to that board, however I was thinking perhaps a stiffer more responsive binding would be more appropriate?

This board is rated a medium flex, would a stiff binding like a burton LTD be too much for it? Also have my eye on a pair of Ride rodeo LTDs that would be more on the softer side in line with the flex of the board.

Also never rode any canted bindings before, is this a noticable feature? Seems lots of even the higher end free ride bindings like the Diods don't have canting, perhaps its not such a vital feature?

Union Force or Atlas, Burton Cartels, Rome 390 Boss to name few...

In my opinion Unions are the way to go, however don't shy wary from Ride bindings either. Their bindings, like any other companies, are likely tested with their own boards.

Selling my Burton Cartels and have the Alter Ego. What are your recommendations for bindings today? Looking at Rome Vice, DOD, Ride C8, or?

I've ridden a bunch of different stuff on it over the years depending on what I want out of it that day.
More surfy inspire carving or lots of trees (this is how I spent most my time on it): Rome Vice or K2 Lien AT (keep the heelblcock installed)
More freeride or all mountain: Bent Metal Transfer, Arbor Cypress, Rome Katana, or Ride A6

Looking for something more freeride focused. Does the DOD not fall into that category? How does the DOD compare to the Cypress?

It doesn't not fall into it, I went Vice or Katana as I just think their asym frame works better with the way the Ego rides. DOD will have a similar feel to the Cypress, but the frame on the Cypress has a little more give and play. Still fully a freeride setup for that board in my mind.
