Couldn't find a thread like this, so figured I'd start one.

Ride the Niche Pyre with superforces. I love that board.

Had my 158 Endeavor Alpha out for the first time yesterday, using cartel x est bindings set at reference 21, -9. I'm 185 lbs size 8 boot and had originally debated between the 158 and 161, I'm very glad I went with the 158. I enjoyed the board and it is a strange combination of lively and damp.
The tips have some give to them and the board stiffens up just outside the insert packs until it becomes a death plank between the bindings. Turns have to be initiated off the front foot, and there was no torsional give, or ankle steering to speak of. There were a few times I found the board locked hard into a carve that it just did not want to release without effort. Down, or across the fall line the board is fast and stable. Edge to edge I found it to be slower than expected, I attribute this to the stiffness of the board, as it is pretty narrow.
At the end of day one it's still not broken-in and it will be interesting to see how the characteristics change over time. It didn't feel like a complete workout while I was riding it, but today my legs are tired and stiff in unexpected places like the adductors. I

K2 SE 148 today. We had over 30" of new snow this past weekend and this board did not disappointed at all. The snow was soft and deep in low angles and as ski patrol makes a first track on some untouched runs under the chairlift it was game on. I rode on the tracks they made and use it to slingshot myself and make my own tracks. Today was great day(y):)

I rode the Stale Fish in the morning and a couple runs in the afternoon on the Surfari to compare on equiv conditions. Thoughts to come, typing on phones sucks.

These freeze thaw cycles suck… I‘m not even attempting the mornings. It reminds me of my days back east in Onterrible. Thermometers in the sun are hitting 8C in the afternoon, and while it does get a little slushy on top, the 2m of ice below is really solid.

Even with the Maelstrom, Cleavers and Thraxis my joints are taking a pounding... I’m not keeping up with my 10 yr old on skis. Maybe I need a soft board with magnetraction for ice.

Sounds like a box knife/ Headspace type of thing

Or something similar
Until the Maelstrom is done, I’ll probably keep riding it in suboptimal conditions.

I had the Stalefish out this morning...

We got 10 cm last night so I had the Stalefish out this morning. If you haven’t tried 3D shaping in pow, you’re really missing out. Crowds have disappeared and I managed 13 runs in 3 hrs. Mostly fresh tracks, including a couple down Parachute Bowl... hitting 56 km/h in pow. View attachment 167748
While the Stalefish is a 153, it’s volume shifted with the tips cut off (blunt nose and crescent moon tail), so it really feels a lot bigger.
Back on the Maelstrom… It wasn’t bad up top (didn’t thaw yesterday & then freeze), but it was still icy. The Maelstrom is really nimble and quick edge to edge. I do like it in sketchy situations at my own pace. The traction bumps add some security. Tail can be a bit hooky on frozen bumps in the trees due to the length (more all mountain than freeride setback), but it does have a good upkick for switch.
Niche pyre today, l agree about those traction bump holding an edge when it get icy on some windblown main runs. K2 SE had to sit this one out due some deep scratches i got on my base last monday.

Slash Vertical, on frozen deep tracks of yesterday's slush. And good deal of carrying it on the backpack... The board rided me more than the other way round.

I just ordered one of these, now I am a little scared... Is it mostly because of the bad conditions (I assume so) or is the board just that much?
Nitro Banker today after a damage hiatus, getting back on it just further solidifies my love for it. There's nothing else I'm more confident riding absolutely everything on, all terrain ripper.

No no, it was I had to carry it on the backpack the whole time. The board is effortless, really easy on the legs for how much board it really is.

Which size? Their larger sizes really bump up the waist from the smaller ones.

Café Racer on morning corduroy, Dancehaul for the rest of the day and with a bit of everything. Funny how my mood and what I what I want to do totally changed when I switch boards.

Full day of pow and corduroy on the Café Racer. Sure this deck has its shortcomings, but when the conditions are great...

We’re actually getting some nice spring snow, so I’ve been on the Stalefish for the last couple of days. Honestly I don’t think I’ve ever felt so one with a board… but it does pound my ankles at times.

Pulled out my oldest board today: 2003 Burton Code 160W. It’s still a solid board with a hella fast base (sintered indium) and big, juicy full camber. This board was the successor to Terje’s Balance series.
Fun fact: a 25.2 cm waist was considered “wide” back then. 😂

K2 SE last thursday with the grandkids . We had 2' of new spring snow wednesday so i had to used my PTO from work. Awesome day, SE yet again answered the call. Niche pyre today, this morning was crust and ice due warm temp the day before, the traction bumps held so no washout while making short turns. Afternoon warmed up so untracked tree runs were so good, side hits where snowcat dumps on the side of the groomers was just awesome, "speed is your friend".
