Hey guys! I've been snowboarding for a couple of weeks in total and I've now decided to buy my own gear for the first time, super stoked
I have very basic knowledge of what to look for in snowboard equipment, but basically what I did was that I looked over a bunch of reviews (mainly from thegoodride.com) and then looked at a couple of sites to see which boards are available at a good deal. I'm mainly looking at 2015 models since they are at a much more attractive price point. What I have come up with so far is this:
Boards:
Yes Basic 2015, 319$
Yes Basic 2016, 399$
Yes Jackpot 2015, 299$
Yes The Greats 2015, 315$
Yes Typo 2016, 399$
Bataleon Goliath+ 2015 (154 cm, only available size), 245$
Bataleon Whatever 2015 (156 and 158 cm, only available size) 344$
Bindings:
Union Contact 2015, 118$
Union Force 2015, 130$
Burton Cartel 2015, 168$
Burton Custom 2015, 119$
These are certainly not the only boards and bindings that I could consider purchasing, but they are the ones that I've been able to find at a good price and the ones that I could see myself enjoying. If you think that there are other boards and bindings that would suit me better, it would be awesome if you could give suggestions on other boards and bindings, and I will do my best to find a good deal for those too!
I am looking for an all-mountain-freestyle setup, as this will be my only gear for the time being. Considering board-size, I really don't know what size I should look for but I think around a 156 cm board would be good for me? I've been told to look for boards at medium and softer flex when looking for a "beginner" board. I mostly ride down the slopes but I want to start learning park and jibs as well, basically a little bit of everything
I live in Sweden and do most of my riding in Trysil in Norway. There isn't a lot of pow there but I'm looking for a board that is capable of riding in as many conditions as possible. I do also sometimes ride in the Alps and the occasional trip to the US/Canada (I might be going there next year for a full season
) I am 6' tall and weigh in at 165 lbs. My feet are about 27cm long (size 9).
As far as boots go, I am going to try on as many as possible at my local shop, who don't offer a great selection at all but it is the best I can do.
Thanks for your time and help and I look forward to finally deciding on my first setup! Have a good one!
