Hey guys! I've been snowboarding for a couple of weeks in total and I've now decided to buy my own gear for the first time, super stoked :)

I have very basic knowledge of what to look for in snowboard equipment, but basically what I did was that I looked over a bunch of reviews (mainly from thegoodride.com) and then looked at a couple of sites to see which boards are available at a good deal. I'm mainly looking at 2015 models since they are at a much more attractive price point. What I have come up with so far is this:

Boards:
Yes Basic 2015, 319$
Yes Basic 2016, 399$
Yes Jackpot 2015, 299$
Yes The Greats 2015, 315$
Yes Typo 2016, 399$
Bataleon Goliath+ 2015 (154 cm, only available size), 245$
Bataleon Whatever 2015 (156 and 158 cm, only available size) 344$

Bindings:
Union Contact 2015, 118$
Union Force 2015, 130$
Burton Cartel 2015, 168$
Burton Custom 2015, 119$

These are certainly not the only boards and bindings that I could consider purchasing, but they are the ones that I've been able to find at a good price and the ones that I could see myself enjoying. If you think that there are other boards and bindings that would suit me better, it would be awesome if you could give suggestions on other boards and bindings, and I will do my best to find a good deal for those too! :)

I am looking for an all-mountain-freestyle setup, as this will be my only gear for the time being. Considering board-size, I really don't know what size I should look for but I think around a 156 cm board would be good for me? I've been told to look for boards at medium and softer flex when looking for a "beginner" board. I mostly ride down the slopes but I want to start learning park and jibs as well, basically a little bit of everything :) I live in Sweden and do most of my riding in Trysil in Norway. There isn't a lot of pow there but I'm looking for a board that is capable of riding in as many conditions as possible. I do also sometimes ride in the Alps and the occasional trip to the US/Canada (I might be going there next year for a full season :)) I am 6' tall and weigh in at 165 lbs. My feet are about 27cm long (size 9).
As far as boots go, I am going to try on as many as possible at my local shop, who don't offer a great selection at all but it is the best I can do.

Thanks for your time and help and I look forward to finally deciding on my first setup! Have a good one! :D

You need to talk to neni the swiss miss, she can help you I'm sure:jumping1:

Buy a good quality used board that's in great shape , bindings too.
Put the money you save towards a pass somewhere.

Based on what you're looking at, I'd put some Cartels on a Yes Basic.
This would be my choice!!!!!

But if ya can go the couple extra dollars, get the Typo in a 155 if you're gonna lean more to groomers and freeride, or 152 if you plan on turnin into a Park Rat for the majority of time!!!!! Basically the Typo is an upgraded Basic!!!!!

Thanks for the quick answers, I really appreciate it! In regards to buying used boards, the market for snowboards here in Sweden is extremely small so the chance of finding a good used board is basically nonexistent. That's why I'm only looking at new boards.

I noticed that none of you guys recommend either of the Bataleon boards, do you think that their boards wouldn't be as good as the Yes ones? I went on Bataleon's website and saw that they had a deal for their 14/15 Whatevers for 320$, which is why I'm asking :)

I'm looking at getting either the Yes Basic/Typo/Greats or the Bataleon Whatever. For bindings it's going to be either the Union Force/Contact or the Burton Cartels. If you had to chose from these items, which would you pick? :)

Also, I'm sorry for being so nitpicky but that's just because I want to get as good of a board as possible

Okay, so a couple of deals changed and some offers expired, but now my choice is down to either the 2015 Yes basic for 319 or the 2016 Yes Typo for 399. I'm going with the Union Force bindings since I think they'll be the best bang for my buck. The only question I have left is if the Typo is worth the price difference?

Also, (I don't know how you tag people in this forum) I made a thread about three years ago about buying a board and Wiredsport gave some excellent advice on snowboard width. Since then, my feet have grown a little so I'm now a US size 9. Do you think the width of these boards would be ok for the length of my feet? :)

Cheers guys!:D

With a size 9 you will be fine, pretty much ideal. It's not till like 11 when boot size becomes a concern.

Personally I would just go for the basic since it's your first board. I'm sure you will get used to it and end up loving it. Then in the future you will have some baseline for comparison and have a better idea if you want more length or stiffness or what have you.
