I was thinking, I've always been right handed, kick with my right foot, I'm way stronger with my right arm/leg, propel myself on a skateboard with my right foot but have always been a Goofy footed Surfer/Skateboarder/Snowboarder.
I shuffle cards with my left hand but deal them out with my right. So why do we do things differently? I should ride natural, but I'm goofy. It appears from research that the term "Goofy" came from the Disney character Goofy who got hammered surfing to the beach right foot foward in the Disney classic film "Hawaiian Holiday" (1937).
I checked online to find the Science in why we ride in each direction and it may be down to our genes but some people can change their stance by continuing to focus on doing it that way. I have met people in the past who are just about to learn Snowboarding and they can't work out their predominant stance.
