I’m an over-50 newbie…with about 8 hours of riding on a very small hill (read:more time on chair lift than coming down) during my winter 2022 inaugural season, and about 20 hours riding during the first three calendar months of 2023.
I appreciate that improvement comes with time on the hill, and I am miles away from where I started this season…and I’m very happy with that…ending the season on blue runs. However I’m still having difficulty on the toe to heel transitions…I keep wanting to slide out / stop once I round the corner so to speak. Not sure if it’s a mental thing and the sensation of (too much) speed, in addition to just being unsure of potential outcomes? Or if perhaps the issue is simply subconsciously weighting the back leg too much after crossing onto my heel edge?
The video below was taken (by my son) in the morning on the first day of three-days of riding a bigger hill than what I learned on. This was a green run…and by the second day I was riding blues…but my sliding out continued throughout. Truth is I’m much more comfortable on my toe edge at all times.
Any suggestions re my transitions (to mentally prepare for next season) would be appreciated!
