Hi there, hoping yall can help me.

I'm 5'9, 153-160lbs depending on the day. I have a 2020 Namedropper @ 155 for park which is an absolute noodle, and looking to get something all mountain to replace my other 12 year old board.

Was interested in the custom, but stuck between 154 & 156. I'm leaning more towards 156 considering I want this to shred down when I'm with friends since the namedropper again is a complete noodle down the mountain - but would love your advice.

I find that I'm always between the weight requirements, where 155lbs is both 154 & 156. And I battle with the fact that this board would be stiffer, so I wonder if I want it to be shorter. Or alternatively, keep it long with the 156.

Would love some advice.

You could ride either. I'd pick the 156 for what you're saying, but maybe 154 if you want to spin a lot or ride a very small hill. But honestly the difference will be subtle and I suspect you'd have to ride both back-to-back to even tell the difference (if even then).

Keep this in mind: whichever you go with, you'll probably never ride the other one. You're never going to know the negative of your decision, so best to just commit to one and roll with it.

If your a novice then the 154 would be more user friendly easier to turn. If your intermediate rider and above the 156 is the go. Longer board will charge harder just require more muscle ie ability to drive it. I'm 210lbs kitted up and love 166W Custom. Jump between a 162W Vapor and you can feel the slight diference in length but really prefer the 166 for its high speed stability.

If you are an experienced rider, I would even consider a 158. You would be fine on a 156 no doubt but since you have a second board for park/freestyle anyways, I would consider going up a bit in size and not just getting a stiffer board for allmountain use. You will appreciate the longer effective edge for carving...

For reference: I'm about 170 lbs sometimes a little over ;) and I have a Custom X 156 for allmountain riding. I really wish I would have gotten the 158 though, I kinda feel that I'd like a little more effective edge. The 156 is really fun for cruising the slopes and dick around a little, i.e. do some sidehits and stuff but when I'm charging faster I get the feeling that I could use a little more board. You are quite a bit lighter than me but the Custom is also a good bit softer than the X so I feel like you wouldn't be overwhelmed with a (regular) Custom 158. That is IF you are an experienced rider and if you are more into carving/bombing than doing butters and sidehits, otherwise I would go with a 156.

I didn't want to recommand you the Custom X ;) I just used that as a reference since I have one and it's pretty much a stiffer Custom (My brother has a Custom 158 wide, so I can compare them pretty well).
I just wanted you to consider the idea of maybe going with an even longer length ;) If you are "just" an intermediate rider though, maybe the 156 is the better call... It's just 2cm difference anyways so it's not a life-or-death-decision ;-) I would just go with the one you can find a better deal on but if you can't find a good deal on a 156, I would prefer a 158 over a 154 - if you feel like dicking around, you always have your Name Dropper...
As an added bonus; with a 158 you could comfortably ride pow too - I know pretty much noone rides powder with camber boards these days but I still like it.

Well, at this point it's pretty hard for me to judge your abilitys. If you want sth to just bomb down the slopes chasing your friends, I would say go for the CX or at least the Custom 158. You could handle that as well and it would only make you a better snowboarder to ride a more challenging board;)

If you want a board with which you can mess around with your girlfriend on the slopes and in the park as well - so you would pretty much only ride the Custom from now on and let the Name Dropper get dusty - I would lean towards the 154 with your weight or maybe the 156 but that?s allready a little much board imo for you for freestylepurposes.

The Flight Attendant is indeed a very interesting board, I relly would like to test this one out - would probably be pretty perfect for you as a secondary board but as I said: I'm pretty confused about your intentions for the board right now: You want to bomb with your friends switch? - If so you are definately not an intermediate rider but an expert and I would recommand the Custom X for you ;)
