I reviewed these bindings previously but this season so far i got 31 more days on them so id like to update with more details and new findings.
I own both the bataleon astro full wraps and asym wrap bindings. Both are very responsive bindings with the fullwrap being a little stiffer/more responsive. the full wrap has a stiffer highback which isnt mentioned. i prefer the fullwraps on boards 6/10 flex or higher thats when you can feel the difference in turn initiation.
I switched to these bindings because i was chasing a binding with an ankle strap that sits high and is stiff and responsive....these bindings do not disappoint! Very good ankle support and toe side response out of the box. The kinked ladders are set up in the upper position and thats how i keep them. I've noticed on some 2025 models they come with the kinked ladders set in the lower position. Overall great ankle straps
The toe straps can be annoying. Theyre a bit too stretchy which can make you over crank and cause pressure but if you dont crank them enough they will shift and be in a different spot at the end of your run. ive also had the toe strap pop off twice on the lift from the toolless adjustable side. I am considering buying Rome Katana Toe straps and seeing if they would be more comfy.
I use the asym wrap on my yes shifter and capita sb resort twin. I use the full wrap on my burton deep thinker and capita bsod
Very adjustable and easily adjustable. Beware the adjustment screws will loosen over time so make sure to check them after every few days riding.
They also use a bigger mini disk so they can be set up full disc style and on slam back inserts. One issue i notice with this disc is that it doesnt have the divots/grooves union discs have where you place the screws and washers. When you set these up mini disc style(screws in the closer together rather than far corners) there is slop to the disc. you can align it perfectly but over time and with pressure the binding will shift slightly changing your angle by moving the whole binding. This is hard to explain but it happens with both bindings and mainly on my backfoot which applies pressure while riding hard because it wants to be neutral or positive but i put it at -6 for switch riding. Before anyone asks YES i make sure my screws are very tight. this issue can be avoided by setting up full disc style(screws in 4 seperate corners) but then you get no stance width adjustability which sucks.
Good shock absorption and dampness.
The footbed might not have the best longevity. the part that clicks in the back of both sides of the binding starts to have a weaker click after time and can pop out. you can easily pop it back in though. The soft foam material also starts to breakdown and compress a little.
Overall this binding is amazing and it is my main binding. I rode union stratas and Atlas last year before these and I would never go back(i would like to try the new force/falcor though). This binding feels very high quality and gives me more control over my boards. I chose this over the rome katana/cleaver because the ankle straps on those are too soft and theres too much adjustment on the ankle strap which would drive me crazy and make me try every combo lmao.
Feel free to ask me any questions
