Burton Custom vs. Super DOA

Hi all,

I am able to get either of these boards for the same price. Which would be a better board to learn good cambered fundamentals and still be good as a all-mountain do it all board with the most versatility?

Thank you in advance!

It’s a board meant for a more advanced rider who can really utilize all that tech and ride at a high level all the time. Not worth it for someone just learning. A custom, while in my opinion a little overpriced these days, is the quintessential “do it all” board.

There are lots of solid real camber boards out there. Super DOA is not going to feel 100% like a real camber board. Nitro makes true camber, try looking there too. There's a difference between camber dominant and camber. The "quad camber" thing found in boards like Huck Knife and Lago Double Barrel also feel very much like real camber too, more than something like Capita Resort V1 profile.

As long as it's true camber and twin they're all pretty similar. I'm in the USA so I know some things are easier to get here and there's things I can't get that I want. I always wanted a volkl squad prime but getting one over here is impossible.

Anyways, just look for something with camber and suggest it. Otto has some rocker in the tip, not real camber. Real camber is really hard to find at the moment because they always do something to ruin a good camber board like add rocker or flat parts towards the ends.

Yeah I can't find Burton Custom but can find the Otto. Maybe the alternative is Nitro Team, I have to search on that but doubt I can find it though.

Nitro Team is actually on my shortlist of boards I hope to find on sale at some point. You may also want to look at a Rome Stale Mod.

From my experience a lot of twin or true twin camber boards are directed as park mainly but as long as they're on the stiffer side you can all mountain it no problem. I personally like half pipe snowboards for free ride, because I like camber and I like the way true twins feel.

And half pipe boards make sense for free ride if that's what you're looking for, they're basically designed to hit vertical walls of ice while holding an edge while being stiff, twin, and camber. Too bad they never sell well and they only make them for a few years before cancelling them.

Finding real camber is a pain because sites like evo.com put Capita Resort V1 in the pure camber filter when you search.

Arbor makes a lot of real camber boards as well. Try looking there.

If your criteria is an unique/ rare board that no one else has... the super DOA is not that. It's extremely popular & I see it all over the mountain

But that is a bit of a silly search criteria. More important to get a board that suits your actual riding style... who cares who else is riding it?! lol!

Bamboo sidewalls are not new. And larger and smaller companies than whatever you’re talking about have used it. And I have never heard of resealing it. So whatever they’re doing is wrong. Support good product and brands, if your local builder isn’t doing it right, they haven’t earned the support. It’s pretty simple.
