Does the Bataleon use a special ankle strap or can I swap on an Infinity strap from a set of Astros?
Answering my own question here. The straps are different to account for the longer ladder and bits that prevent it from slipping right off unintentionally.

Took the Bataleons out for a couple of laps recently. They felt no different from the non-FASE Rome/Bataleon asym bindings. The FASE mechanism feels robust and spring action of the paddle/highback is very snappy. Time will tell how the moving parts hold up.

Theres definitely a learning curve to getting in and out - In requires toe first then heel down, Out requires (for me which may not be correct) heel first and a bit twist of the ankle inwards to fully release the paddle. Overall these are advertised. The one negative I found was the toe straps being out of position occasionally when stepping in - something for future development but not a deal breaker.

i haven't tried FASE yet but getting out sounds a bit similar to the Supermatics, you have to lean back a bit on the heel pedal to get the lever mechanism to engage.

I wonder how FASE will be to get out of on steeper slopes. Supermatics can suck at that because of the lever and likes a mostly level surface, sometimes one has to resort to pulling off the straps. While with Flows you can at least face the hill and still get out the back.

Its the same as flows. Face up hill. But why are you getting out on steep slopes?

with the FASE, the rider can sit on the snow to get in and out, while still using the fast entry system. unlike supermatic and flow.
Supermatic and Flow can be done from seating - the strap assembly can be opened and closed manually. It's just annoying to do that and not as easy as regular straps. I have to do this with my Flows during air transport since I fold down the highbacks under the straps.

my point is with FASE, the rider can use the fast entry (not touch the toe buckle and leave the ladder connected) sitting down. but with supermatic and flow, if sitting, the rider can not enter the bindings without undoing the toe and ankle strap. so then the supermatic/flow is being used the same as a regular binding.

How would that be possible if the highback is leaning backwards, just like the supermatics? and why are you sitting? might as well get normal bindings if youre gonna sit down anyways

why not make it easier and quicker getting in and out of bindings when riding backcountry? also, hiking a rail or pipe.....it is not always flat or a gentle slope when entering bindings with advanced rider.
Most people don't sit down to get in their bindings, I don't see this as much of an issue

done what?......yes, I have sat on the snow many times with FASE bindings and entered it using the fast entry system....if that is what you are asking.
but any time you gain from quick entry is lost if you have to sit down to strap in anyways, so whats the point here? this whole thing is a non issue, pretty sure i can get into my matics sitting down if i loosen the top strap, but again never been an issue since ive never had to sit down to strap in

I've had to kick in, and then sit on my knees while removing snow and slap in the mechanism on the Flow/K2 Cinch bindings sometimes when I've tried them, but I don't use those, and don't see alot of them outside resorts, so bit of a non issue. Most can be strapped in the normal way too now of course.
