I have a 09/10 NS Evo, bought it brand new. At the time, I was brand new to snowboarding but wanted my own board after renting a few times, and I wanted something that would last a long time. The Evo certainly has, it still looks new. At the time I envisioned myself as someone who wanted to hit rails and play around in the park, but I've come to develop into more of a freestyle/all-mountain type. Mainly because the park features scare the shit out of me.
I have been thinking of selling the Evo to cover part of the cost of a Proto, but have put it off because the Evo has been good enough, even as an all mountain. But as I develop and get better with carving, there are times at speed (not fast, either) when I lean the Evo in and feel like I'm just gonna lose it. This could be a technique thing, I've only been out maybe 20 days in the past 5 years. Weekend warrior to the extreme. So it's hard to justify buying a new board.
Edit* I wish I could demo a proto, but NS doesn't do demos on tiny little hills in Massachusetts.
