Hello. My kid started snowboarding last year. I am looking for gear to avoid rentals. I found an M3 Riot brand new for $100. Is it worth the money? I can’t find anything about the board. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I’d say to expect the same quality as the rossi and burton learning rentals. It’s not a quality board but at a $100 is way cheaper than a season of rentals. Do you know if it has rocker, camber or some combination of the 2? If you’re not sure take a pic from the side with the board on a flat surface so we can see the natural bend

My first board was an M3 that I bought from a ski/snowboard expo on a clearance rack. I have no idea what model the board was. It was your standard really soft beginner board with subpar build quality. I think I had it for a year and then replaced it with a Burton board I don't remember. This was about 20 years ago. Too be honest I didn't even think the brand existed anymore. It's your standard rental quality board. From a quick google search it looks like its a full camber board and has an extruded base.

First off whats your weight, we can at least help you know if the size is right.
If your just going to ride with your kid and don't really care about becoming an advanced rider it would probably be fine. That said you could probably find something more modern and have a more enjoyable experience.
