Probably the common stock control problem where retailers struggle to sync stock levels with their website. Unless you use a dedicated warehouse for the online store there's a chance someone will pick up the last item in store before it's moved out back.

Or they just had their stock levels wrong :(
The problem is that you have to do the payment and then email them to tell them that you have paid the deposit. By the time they have received the email to say you have paid your deposit someone else could have bought it off the webpage. It can easily happen when they have only one item in stock.

Yeah this. They only had one in stock and this is what happened.

Maybe I should have used that deposit system instead waiting for salary, last one Bataleon Carver dissapeared from stock on august, had to think another carving deck :)

Sorry for resurrecting an old post but it was the only one I could find on SBF other than starting a new thread.
I just want to say Absolute Snow based in Watford, England is absolutely superb. I've ordered a few things from them and they use DHL couriers. On all times I'm getting dispatch to front door in 4 to 6 days. I ordered a pair of high end '24 Volkl Secret 96 170cm (36% off RRP, only Store I could find in this size for YOM '24) and a Dakine padded bag (45% off RRP) for my Daughters Xmas 🎄. They were dispatched Wed arvo on 6th Nov and quickly through customs Sydney, Australia with them arriving at DHL depot in my home town 2pm today 10th Nov ready for dispatch tomorrow. Mate, that's 5 days door to door for a large oversize item UK to Newie, Australia. They have free delivery over $Au515 all GST paid, paid for in $Au on their website so no 3rd person exchange rate rip-offs. Their prices are a lot cheaper than what I can grab in Australia on EOS sales. Brilliant store and DHL are superb. I've noticed on YT recently they throw a lot of Absolute Snow adds as well.

Yeah Absolute Snow is probably the main UK supplier of snow toys these days. Always quick and efficient and when I've contacted them in the past;; they have real UK based people who actually know about the stuff they're selling. For example the difference between mail & female dakine snowboard bags, which is "the colour" and about ten quid.

There's also Sport Pursuit which focuses entirely on old season stuff and isn't just snow gear. It is random on what stock they have at any particular time. You need to sign up, although they obey GDPR so you can decline all the spam. They are good in my experience also.

There are more specific suppliers for niche stuff like waxing gear or avalanche kit, but for most things, Absolute Snow is the obvious UK supplier. You can sometimes do better from EU based suppliers, mind: eg Blue Tomato (Austria) or Snowleader (France) or Glissshop (France) or Alpine Trek (Germany). You might come across occasional other "too good to be true" sites which are generally fraudulent; just google anything you're not sure about. Pay with a credit card which doesn't charge a premium (most do), in the supplier's offered currency.

I thought you'd be pretty clued in on the Euro scene.👍

I grab a bit of gear as well as tuning supplies from Snowinn. They're pretty cheap for older/last seasons YOM outerwear especially on certain sizes like XS and S, but you have to factor in their additional postage.

Daughters skis and Dakine padded bag arrived today from Absolute Snow. Absolute Snow dispatched them in 2 different DHL shipments..., WTF. I mention to them put the skis inside the padded Dakine bag in one shipment. The
Volkl Skis came in a hard cardboard box and were not bubble wrapped inside, just strapped together loose inside. Luckily the box was all intact having travelled across the World and zero damage. Good handling by DHL.

Volkl Secret 96 170cm pre-drilled for binding mount.

Absolute snow looked after me as well and pre-drilled the skis for mounting after I had sent my daughters boot size and BSL to them. I had grabbed my daughters bindings from Snowinn a few months prior on sale as the colour was really sweet to match the topsheet graphics and I was waiting for these '24 Secret 96 to come on sale on the BF sales.

Marker Squire 11 (tan/ivory) 100mm on my wifes ski's.

Mounted them up with Marker Squire 11 100mm bindings (tan/ivory) and they look great. The highlights on the bindings match the colour of the Volkl insignias on the Secret 96.

Marker is actually owned by Volkl.

There's a bit of work in mounting bindings as all the holes have to be glue primed before screwing down. You have to be careful when screwing components down that you don't miss align the holes and use a Pozzi drive No.3. Next step, set the DIN and the binding tension positioning up perfectly. Diamond stone polished the side edges up, topsheet wax/polish and storage waxed for next season.

Absolute Snow and DHL five stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

;-) Oh yes, I forgot them.... which is weird as I ordered a new lightweight helmet from there two days ago. I've had zero trouble with any of these snowboard suppliers.

It's a bit odd how those places come and go over time; Blue Tomato absolutely rocked a decade or two back, but it's gone much more fashion clothing these days. AS is my starting point, then the less glossy EU suppliers. Haven't used BT for years as they're seldom cheapest these days.

(I did get some pinball supplies from Australia during the pandemic, so this sort of trade isn't all one way...)

Australia, we're basically the Worlds quarry.
