So I couldn't help myself and just bought the last 149 Arbor Cadence I could find. Reviews I have read and mountain buzz I have overheard tell me this is a great board making company and they ride great...

Any thoughts from you all?

My previous board was stolen this weekend so I guess the upside of that is this time of year being a good season to upgrade.

Thanks for any comments! I have a 60 day return policy on the board.

I saw an Arbor A-Frame for sale at the last expo I was at. $600. :(

It was the first time since my g/f cheated on me 6 years ago that I had contemplated killing someone and running of with their stuff.

My husband rode an Arbor Roundhouse for most of last season. Most stable, responsive board he's been on.

I get the feeling that Arbor boards tend to be stiffer than equivalent snowboards from other manufacturers, but I could be way off base there. My first board was the Arbor Eden and I could not learn to turn on it. Bought a softer board after 5 days or so and was linking turns immediately. Took the Eden out again at the end of that season and I stiff found it stiff and hard to turn. I just think the Eden needed a stronger, more aggressive rider.

Regardless, they are sold boards with beautiful topsheets.

thanks for the replies! I am a tad concerned about the stiffness, but time will have to tell at this point, although I consider my riding sorta agressive. At least I try to be. :dunno: I should be smart and demo one before committing -- if I can find that here in the East.

Arbors make some of the best boards out there. I'd take one over many of the boards that people on this forum rave about. As with any board, it'll break in with real usage. Keep in mind that most people that complain about overly stiff boards that really aren't that stiff weigh nothing and/or don't ride very hard.

If you're going to lock any board, it should be an Arbor. I don't know if there are any statistics for which boards are most likely to get stolen, but I'm betting a lot of thieves would gravitate toward an Arbor or a Banana.

There's a bunch of youtubes for different boards from BoardInsider (you guys prob already know this) and they gave it a really great rating. Their video gave me the push to order it.

I'm geeking out and tracking its progress east thru fedex ground. Dork alert!!!!!! Can't wait!

Arbor Element/Roundhouse for beginner/intermediate

Hi, I started boarding a couple of weeks ago and I'm completely hooked. Since the season's almost over it's a great time to look for equipment, and I've fallen in love with the Arbor boards. I'm not interested in tricks, just carving up the mountain and getting faster. I've ridden what are probably mostly lousy rental boards (a K2, Elan, and Rossignol from 149-152 cm). My last day out I had no trouble flying down blue runs; it still felt like my squishy rental boots and tiny flexible board were holding me back, but I could be wrong.

I guess what I'm asking is, am I ready for an Arbor? I'm hesitant to go to something too stiff, too soon. I was looking alternatively at Burton Guru/Malolo; basically I want a freeride board. I've shied away from what I eventually want (Burton Custom X/Supermodel X) because I think those are probably too stiff/speedy. Which will the Arbor more closely resemble? Or will it fall in the middle, which is what I'm hoping for?

I don't mind struggling for a day or two on a stiff board, but if it will set me back or frustrate me all season I'll find something cheap used for next year or just demo all season. What do you think? I'm looking at Rome Targa bindings if I end up with an Arbor BTW.

Sweet. I feel pretty confident but this is not a small investment.

Arbor Element it is.

I'm a big guy at 250 and ride the element at 167, a-frame is 174, and abacus is 164. the jones board is about the only thing coming out that looks like it could be real nice! I tried a lib tech mullet and hated it, sold it on ebay and bought the abacus, can't always believe all the marketing hype.
