sierra Snowboards: Crew vs Team and height considerations

hey. so for my first board (all mountain) I have been looking at the sierra team and crew. from product descriptions it seems the team may be a bit more beginner friendly. also its softer and being from florida i am out of shape and figure it may be easier to control.

should i choose board length based soley on weight, Im very slim, 6' and 150 lbs, so I have been trying to decide between 153 and 157 for the team. Also as I said leg muscles are weak (talk about tired and sore after first day of riding!) but im sure they will strengthen from a few more days of riding, plus hiking and moutain biking during the off season.

So should I get the 153 or 157 and have some room to grow into it? I hoping for the board to last the 10/11 and 11/12 seasons. or conversely I could use the borrowed board for the rest of the year and see if there are any other boards going on sale this spring? anyways i know its to general and a lot has been covered but really just looking for some advice and stuff as i feel kind of lost and feel it would be a huge mistake to get a board not suited to me.

oh yeah shoe size is 10.5-11, havent bought boots yet.

First, you say "grow into" are you young and still growing or are you talking about ability level?

If it were me, and based on your shoe size you may want to go with the wide Crew 157. Even being skinny, longer legs will still flex a board more easily than short legs so that's why I'm suggesting 157. Also the crew is pretty similar to the burton custom, which a few people here ride and enjoy. Don't worry at all about being REALLY sore, everyone deals with that when they start riding, your body will get used to it, and leg workouts are a good thing. If not for your boot/shoe size I would suggest the sierrascope, but I think it's just too narrow for you.

Don't skimp on boots, and dont buy boots online without trying them on in a store first, wearing them for awhile and using the socks you'll snowboard in. It is very important.

By the way, which part of florida? I took a few years off riding and moved to clearwater (back in the north now)

As far as 'grow into' muscle strength and ability level. and Florida... pensacola  yeah i am waiting for boots because I have been using some borrowed ones and they just hurt me. so i wanna really get some great fitting ones. disappointing i was hoping i could get away with a regular board, but it is what it is, thanks for the response.

link? i saw the 'deal' they had on those but it was for 349 i think. also, anymore weigh-ins on the height issue? and wide vs regular? i am probably a month or 6 weeks out from buying and this is just a part of my research so id like as many opinions as i can get. thanks a lot.

IMO, get the Team. As a beginner, I'd want a softer board that would be more foregiving. You should be able to ride it for a season or two and by then, you'd want to buy a new board anyways :p. Plus, the centered stance and twin shape will allow you to ride in the park, should you want to later on. Not that you couldn't take the Crew into the park, but, IMO, it wouldn't be as park friendly. As for size, get the 153. I'm 170lbs and I ride a 152 everywhere if that matters.
