i was recently at the san diego snowboard and ski expo and picked up a backup board that i paid $150 for. the sticker said it was a Ride Kink "to be destroyed" but it had no graphics, just clear paint on the top and the base is clear as well, i can see through to the wood and the board hasnt even had bindings on it. the retailer said it was a "factory test model" or "prototype" or something to that effect. it was an impulse buy, i will admit that. the retailer was the Mt High resort here in Ca.

has anyone else run into one of these and could possibly shed some light on the board? good buy?

i will try to post a pic when i get home from work

i have not, the retailer seemed to know what she was selling and said that i need to wax it. not sure yet though. my buddy picked up a similar board that was used and had been waxed. his had a solid black base though and i believe it was a K2.

my base doesnt seem to be any different than my other boards, it just has clear plastic. my guess is it is clear so they can check for any cracking or delaminating. ill try to wax it tonight

Sounds cool. I rode on a ride kink for a little while a couple seasons back. It was a fun board.

Does it still have the slimewalls and whatnot? Can you post pictures? Sounds cool.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have slimewalls. I don't see it. Unless they have pink slimewalls? It also looks like the pink part is on the inside rather than the outside like slimewalls (can't really tell).

Either way, that board looks really sick!

That board was probably a prototype so I'm sure there are differences between that and the production model. Weird, I'm almost positive that the person isn't supposed to be selling that board. I don't know if you want to get anyone in trouble (if Ride doesn't allow it), but it would be worth contacting Ride about this board. If anything, you bought a $150 piece of snowboard art. I personally think they should really make some snowboards like that. Looks soo sweet. Although I'm sure the stuff they put on the topsheet protects the board. That's another issue.

I'm pretty sure, Ride doesn't allow it. IHMO contact the Ride ain't a good idea. You can make problems to person, who sold the board, and even to yourself. just ride it and amaze all the people aroung with a top-secret board =) or put it on a wall as a modern art.

Shit sir, if I were you I'd get rid of that thing right away, looks like problems on the way, if you'd like I'll take itt off your hands for $150.00!? Haha naw I kid the guy who just bought the sikk snowboard stolen from a secret snowboard lab somewhere in the Mojave desert, give Ride a shout, or make a phone call from a pay-phone haha.

Over the years, my daughter and I have gotten team and proto stuff, kinda of cool cause you know its only one manufactur's run or 1-off. Ride it, sell it, wall it...its part of the manufactur's swag stoke thing. There's tons of protos, demo, swag stuff from pro, teams and ect. Its known that pro, team and industry folks give away or sell the stuff they get from manufactures. There are insiders that buy last season's protos and demos to resale to the public...so the manufactures are removed from a direct retail relationship...to avoid warranty and liability issues.

That is definitely the ride kink. From 2009. Looks to me like it has all the same tech as the production kink had. It is funny that it has the pink slimewalls. lol. Here is what the production model looked like. This is the same board I rode. It is a really fun board.

This is what the house has to say about it:

If it's Ride it's possible that's Kink. Very simply board, biax without any carbon waves, kevlar inlays etc. You can check the sizing, nose, tail, waist and compare it to "original". Sometimes prototypes are stronger than serial production boards ;)

I love the stupidity of people on here. Way to get butt hurt you got called out you fuck. Rides done clear bases for a long time, you do a clear base on a proto so you can see if anything is breaking inside it. Fuck remove your head from your ass there chief if you don't know about it don't talk or speculate on it.

You're a very angry person. Why is that? Did a drunk uncle touch you down there once upon a time? Or more than once as the case may be? You should probably get help with that. Talk about your abuse, get it out of your system and maybe you'll find peace and happiness.

On the off chance that you weren't abused and you're just a complete dick by nature, you might want to just go ahead and kill yourself. If not for your own self improvement, do it for the sake of humanity. The world would be a better place. Thanks. And have a nice day :)
