I Got this board on a great (group buy thingy) deal shipped to door! Was in the market for a true directional free ride stick, so I grabbed it! Heard so much about Kessler boards and I know I'll never get to see one in a demo... so here goes !

To start with, I think (personally) this board has the same techs as the Palmer Platinum LE had before it was discontinued! So, Kessler (who was making it for Palmer) probably decided to use/seize this and make it under their label with a few minor shape and look tweaks.

It's really high end construction board from tip to tail. The ultimate freeride board that I actually used as an all-mountain! For fair comparison, here's a list of boards I owned or been on as demo to give perspective:

Burton T6
Burton Custom
Never Summer Titan
Nidecker Megalight
Salmon Mans Board
Burton Method
Burton Custom X
Ride Highlife
Ride Machete
Nitro Pantera
K2 WWW
Lib Tech Travis Ride

1st and formost, this board grips on ice like nothing I've seen. I have a Travis Rice board with mange-traction (Lib Tech C2 BTX), which I thought was the best there is on ice. Until I got the Kessler Ride into some ice! It literally grips on ice like glue! So much that I initially thought either the use is stick, or my board base is completely burned out of wax! None of the above. :) The KST seems to place the entire board edge into the ice creating the ultimate grip. Once you learn that, you just point the board down and shoot! You can slow down by simply putting the board on a slight (or hard) edge deepening how much you want to slow.

2nd most impressive was how damp this board is! I could be cutting into moguls or charging a double diamond (ice or no ice) and this board just holds steady as a tank though it all. Yet it always feels super light and nimble.

With all that in mind, I thought if this board can do it in the park, we are game! So, I took it for some park jumps and boy was I ever impressed how it takes off and lands. Super steady and very predictable. I ever took into into some boxes (no rails) just for fun! We also have a BX trail at my resort that I will be taking this into next time around if I get the chance.

Although it's a directional, set-back free ride board, I could ride it switch with ease. As a matter of fact I found it it to be a great for my progressing switch riding with the shorter back! Like skies riding switch you could say. Turned and carves easier than my twin. But that's just me... Haven't (and won't) try switching on jumps for the record! But I could drop a 180's off the ground or off pitched sides NP!

The board has an amazing pop of rollers when coasting through the snow. It's a hybrid so it's super easy to ride on catwalks and flat as well as relaxing your feet. It requires MINIMUM effort to manouver and carve into snow. A beast that's super easy to ride.

I also took it into some powder and it floats like a hovercraft on the white stuff! Could carve in and out tree lines and side POW banks with ease. Though turning it at 1st will take a little getting used it at 168 (vs my other board 156-164 max).

Overall, the best snowboard I ever had my hands on to date! In summery:

Ultimate ice grip
Smooth Damp Ride
Super fast
Rock solid in any condition
Awesome pop
Great for jumps & landing
Ultra Hybrid camber (KST)
Rides easy on flats and catwalks
Minimum effort to ride & carve
Floats great in pow
Ride like a tank - point & shoot downhill
Rides switch
ABSOLUTE KILLER BOARD

Cheers...

Dude... ask your friend where he got the die-cut logo from (just under the K)? I'm looking to add just that.
No plates for now... I love the response as is along with the flex. I may give that a shot down the line though! :D

Damn you!!! Did you get it on that I.Get.It deal for $650 or so shipped? I was so tempted but since I have C60 EST bindings right now I don't want to have to fork out another $400 or so for stiff bindings for it.

I've been bugging the canadian sales rep to try to get them to come out west so I can at least touch the board before buying it (I'd prefer to try) but everyone I've talked to says they're fantastic.

I'm assuming it'd be a worthy replacement to the Burton T7? I love ripping it on the T7 but it's super stiff and cambered and makes me work through the powder. I'd be surprised if anything bombs quite like the metallic T7 though. :D

:D Yes it was! I was in the market for something like this. Had my eyes on the Salomon Burner or Nitro Pantera LX. But just couldn't say no to this offer! I always wanted a Kessler, and let me tell you... it's worth every penny!!! I had a T6 before and I think this Kessler Ride board is like a dream! Unmatched in pure speed and combined stability. I'd be flying by EVERYONE in sight on any trail, and yet to find anyone that even came close to catching up with me. But honestly, it's not just the speed and dampness stability, but how easy and effortless it is to ride and turn.

I'll try and take a video with my GoPro next time out and post here to add to the review.

Cheers...

I can tell you honestly that I though this will be my prime big mountain board. Bu tI've been riding nothing but this board for practically everything! here's an update:

ICE: this board just begs you to go on ice! :cheeky4: Bites like a shark and you control how much it bites by directing the board & edges, thus your speed in the process.

FLUFF & POW: We have not seen much of that, but I took it out on some rare untouched 12" trail and it was just awesome! Floats and turns quick. Nothing knee deep yet (until I visit your side of the globe). But I have a feeling it wil do just fine.

SPEED: This board is a beast at speed. I ride with speed freaks (skiers) and I am getting tired waiting for everyone at every turn to arrive! LOL. Seriously... Eats chop and crud and cuts through anything. IMO, it's the fact that it stays so solid, damp and stable at high speed that makes me want to push the extremes.

DAMPNESS: It has a mix of dampness that absorbs all chatter yet still lively giving you the feel of snow under your feet (if you knwo what I mean). Turn the edge just a little and you are on cloud 9 as it cuts through it all.

GROOMERS: Speachless!!! It's one thing to run it through chop and go fast, it's another world to be riding mach speed on groomers!

JUMPS: I'm getting more air and better landings than ever! Just an easy board to jump with. I can pop 180's off the sides and just enjoy every aspect.

PARK: It should be illegal to take it into rails, but I took it on some boxes and walls for fun (nothing extreme).

SWITCH: Here's a surprise... for a directional board, I (personally) can ride ride it switch better than my twins! I think I got much better at switch using this board. It feels weird becuase I'm riding switch on the shorter end, but like skies, it' really a pleasure!

TREES: Here's the only thing I have not tried much! I did my 2nd day on teh board, but I was so scared i'd ding a tree I just was not comfortable there. A little harder to turn than my T-Rice between tight trees. But honestly, I don't think it's an issue and think it was mostly cause I was just dialing the board. I have since been able to navigate this Ride between end of day moguls and tight turns just fine. It's not a super stiff board, but not that soft either. I honestly think it'll be fine once/if I take it there as I'm stil hesitant about dinging the board into a tree (will update). Also, it's a 168 vs all my previous 156-164 max!

POP: Just amazing! Off rollers it pops beautiful and lands even better. Same off little bumps here and there. Having so much fun on these almost like a park board.

FLEX: The board seems to have a mid or just a little over mid-flex. It also has KST which is the camber/rocker hybrid. It's a camber board that flixes to give you the ultimate easy ride. When I flat base on catwalks, the board doesn't twich to an edge. So, it's super easy to flat base and ride easy. It also turns tight or big for digging trenches while riding low with face close to snow! :D

TURNS: The board turns real sweet edge to edge. Tight or big turns it does both. I can navigate tight spots fast. Best part is that it literally requires "minimum" effort pumping the knees in/out. I stil ldo it out of habit, but somehow, the board does not require big effort in th eprocess (pump knees to push through snow).

All in all, I am really loving this board. I take it anywhere and everywhere. NO LIMITS! No 1 issue for me is a mid flex board that is damp, can handle speed & great on ice. That being covered, everything else was like a really unexpected bonus. So much so that I'm practically selling (trying to - end of season ) everything else I have and just keep this and one more (short rock) board!

The only other board (I almost got) close to this would be the Nitro Pantera LX! But that board is much harder to ride and needs constant effort to maintain an edge. And now LX no more since Nitro came up with Nitro Factor with Koroyd (I think it's called) honeycomb material. But Pantera LX $700 or so vs $655!!! :) So I got the Kessler Ride and I am ever so happy that I FINALLY found my one and only quiver killer board that I've been seeking all these years! :)

ICE-GRIPPING

EASY
POPS
JUMPS
SWITCH

and then some...

I don't doubt that it is high quality and rides damp, and it makes a lot of sense to me that you liked it as an all-mauntain - congrats and may it bring you many hours of joy

For people who are loking for the ultimate freeride board, though - there are *new* concepts and shapes coming onto the EU market - look at Furberg snowboards, with different geometry regarding sidecut and tip / tail. Their focus is truly freeride though, I am certain a Furberg won't be versatile enough for anything close to a quiver killer.

Thanksfor the input re:alternatives... I've seen a few other companies doing exotic boards too. I do want a quiver killer though. My current Burton T7 is pretty good at that. Like Franks Red Hot Sauce, I put that S#!T on everything! Was thinking the Kessler would be along the same lines, everything from icy groomers to mountain bowls.

In another thread it was said that there was a communication error and the group buy should never have been that cheap, and never will again. Not sure how much truth there is to it but I'm not crossing my fingers... :( The Canadian distributor sold out at full price.

Edit: there's a place in the UK that has them for $1260 CDN plus $75 shipping, not sure if there's tax on top of that? VAT or ???

I'm trying to find a used Palmer Platinum in the meantime...

That would be much appreciated!!! I'm thinking Europe would be the best second hand market for them but maybe Japan got a lot as well? They're basically unheard of in North America. I've seen a couple Kessler BX boards at my local hill but never a Ride.

Wow! That's great news. I just hope they bring in the same board! Or I'll be forced to buy "another" Kessler!

Regarding the distributor, I would assume they didn't expect to sell out so early in the season given the price tag AND that's it's a brand new main-stream board to the market and not BX specific (which has it's own following)!

But if I recall correctly, they said that a couple of guys (maybe famous riders, dunno) bought them early in the season and they were refering people they knew who saw (or demoed) their boards!

Either way... I'm glad they'll be doing it again and hopefully you can grab one this time. BTW, it's the same design and colors from last year (and coming years)! Good for value if ever you wanna sell it, and will always look new!

Cheers...
